Hi folks,
I've been lurking about this forum for quite a while, and I've managed to pick up a lot of useful information. I currently own a Rem.597 and I want to get into a half decent target bolt action that isn't going to break the bank.
So, I've searched through the forum and found a few threads on similar subjects and I've managed to narrow down the choices for a new .22 to the following;
1) Savage MK II FVT: This thing has the sweet little accu-trigger and comes fitted out with a peep sight, and is available for about $400 (give or take)
2) CZ-452 American/Varmint: Seems to be the most recommended entry level target gun, but runs around $525, and I would have to sink another $80 or so into front and rear sights.
3) CZ-452 LUX: Dead ###y stock, runs around $500, and again, I would need to add a rear peep.
I think common consent on the board is that the CZ's are a little more accurate, but by how much? And do the differences *really* justify the extra $150 to $200 (as the increased price seems to be going mostly into the wood stock)? Lastly, would either of these actually perform well in competition or will I simply be shelling out for an Anshutz in a few years?
