Trying to get good.

Ah, yes. Thank you Dsiwy. I could see it as being helpful in old school 1911's and such if you're carrying or in competition, but don't most pistols have a chamber indicator of one description or another?

Most do but they are hard to see and i prefer to see the casing with my own two eyes. You only do it when you first load the pistol so its not like your in a rush.

I shoot alot of sig and they dont have loaded chamber indicators, i do the same with my glock to keep my drills the same.

Ahhh you're going to die........ Ahhhhhhh

Yup. Most definitely.
I picked up the practice after working with a certain German unit while I was there for work a few years ago. It works great, and there's no need to take the gun out of battery or pull the mag. So I'm ok with it.

Yup, because he's not doing what Costa says he has to (especially with his range guns). :D

Costa??? Is that who says I should be doing a press check? Uh oh... I better start doing that. After all, I've never swabbed a deck, been in a video, or have my own man-doll.
:p

The 'thumb and forefinger' (pinch style) 1911 press check was developed by Cooper/Farnam long before Segal used it in a movie - it was state of the art in the 1950's. Segal learned it at Gunsite (or saw someone who learned it at Gunsite).

I almost forgot about this thread, good to see it BTT.

Anyway, I was interested by WP's post of his groups at various distances. So a few weeks ago, I thought I would try it out with my G17.

NRA B8 target 3, 5, 10, 15, 25 yards. 5 rounds at each distance (I know, I know, it should have been 10, but I had other things I needed to accomplish at the range that day). I pushed one out of the black at 25 yards; pissed me off.

I'm not particularly proud of this target, but it is a huge improvement over what I could do even a year ago, especially at 25 yards. Longer distances are something I work into my range sessions every time now.

For anyone interested in downloading the B8 target, here's the link (take the space out of http)..
