TUF-22 magazines

The entire stripper clip thing was stupid and useless.

I really wish they had just devoted that time and energy to making these better (normal) magazines.

These mags are trash, most rub on bolt and need tuning, spring is week, load weird, wouldn't have gotten the Tuf receiver if I knew we weren't getting normal oem knock off or butler creek style mags. I do appreciate the effort.

If you guys are having issues with the magazines, its because you are not loading them correctly when using the stripper clips.

90% of the people that I have seen complain about it, don't know how to load them correctly.

The stripper clip holds 20 only, and once the stripper is in the mag, you need to click the plastic tab at the top of the striper clip in the open position. This tab puts force on the silver prongs that retain the rounds in the stripper, if not completed, the mag will fail to feed as the spring has to force to push it past the prongs and its a choke point, and the rounds don't easily slide up past it.

Secondly, the stripper clip causes the rounds to inherently face nose down after install. they need to face nose up to slide out of the mag. To do this, after installing the stripper and clicking the tab, you have to release the follower, and let the rounds ride up slowly, then give the follower a few rounds of slack again and flip the mag upside down towards the feeding section, this pivots the rounds the correct way, for the demonstration, refer to 3:20 mark in the video. After the rounds are aligned, you can top the mag off with 4-5 more rounds.

I know its a tedious process for doing and a hassle, but doing it has lead to me not having a single malfunction with any of my Tuff mags over the past 8-10k rounds, I highly recommend you guys to try it too if you are having issues.

I would also add, that folks need the stainless steel plunger and 25% stronger spring with the TUF-22, for the most reliable shooting experience. I've gotten the mags to work, but there is always 2 rounds or 3 that causes a malfunction per 100 shots. I am guessing the magazine fitted more tight in the mag well, it would feed flawlessly.

Too finicky for me.

Magazines should just work.

I epoxy 3/8" nuts onto BC Steel lips that make it impossible to insert the mag into a 10/22 but inserts into my TUF22 receiver.

If modding mags is legal as instructed to us by RCMP Lab E ie. pin BC 25 rounders then modding to make the mag impossible to use in a 10/22 is legal.

They can't have it both ways ie. heads I win, tails you lose.

Off the shelf tuff 22 mags don't fit in off the shelf 10/22s. You don't need to epoxy anything...

Can you provide some more information on the RCMP instructions and/or sources? As a youngin' I've not heard of this before, only the widespread instruction to "never modify mags because that's illegal". Does this only apply to mags that were owned at the time of the 10/22 charger debacle? Or could this be done to bring 25 rounders into the country once again if they are permanently modified stateside to only work in a TUF-22?

I'll try to find the RCMP Lab E edict.

So if the RCMP say modifying the mags by pinning is legal then modifying them so they don't work in a Charger is legal too.

What's good for the goose is good for the gander.

F#ck the RCMP Lab E politicians.
