is here any reason why i couldnt take my dies apart & tumble them to clean them up? also what products/methods do you guys use to clean your dies? i've got the Lee carbide set if that helps

I suppose you could, although some solvent and a brush would probably be more effective.

You wouldn't hurt the dies if that is what you are worried about.

i have put rough rusts looking dies in my vibrating cleaner with walnut media. accualy works well. make sure you disasemble first if not its a nightmare. for just cleaning a sonic cleaner works well

"...tumble them to clean..." No need. Clean 'em with your regular firearm cleaning kit. The only die that is carbide in any die set is the sizer. It has a carbide insert. The rest of 'em are just steel.

I've used brakecleen, Hoppe's #9, Varsol, gas line antifreeze...
I would hesitate to throw the dies in a tumbler, however, depending on the media in there. Random abrasive action on a finely machined surface doesn't seem like a good thing to me.

I like to use a CLP like G96 because you have a solvent to remove the crap, and a luberiant to protect against rust.

Make sure you wipe down the outside with G96 or another CLP or Gun Oil. Leaving oils and residue from your hand on the outside can cause rust.
