Tumbling Brass before or after depriming?

Wet tumbling vs dry tumbling is almost as big a difference as progressive press vs single stage press. I really don't understand the abuse dry tumblers are willing to take to say they keep their old technology.

Actually, a better analogy would be that dry tumbling is like lighting your house with candles, and wet tumbling is like having electricity.

Do as you choose but I just can't be bothered to dry the cases after wet tumbling. I just dump mine into media separator inspect and start loading. None of this tumble then go cook off a batch and wait for " my cookies to cool"

Question for the guy's that wet tumble with the SS pins. After the brass is cleaned what is the easiest way to seperate the brass and the pins. Seems like it could be a issue.
Thanks

I use the Frankford Arsenal wet tumbler, that has a couple of slotted ends to keep brass in and shake out the pins. It works well enough. Also the pins are magnetic so you can go over the brass with a magnet to pick up more pins.
I spread the brass on a towel or piece of cloth to dry anyway, so that's the best time to use a magnet.

I never resize any brass before it is cleaned, then when it is resized I tumble again to remove the sizing lubricant. Never fire a cartridge that has remnants of Lube on it.

why? I've literally shot millions of rounds of pistol and tens of thousands of rounds of rifle ammo lube left on.

Thanks for the reply. I just bought one also , ran my first batch of brass through it last night. They sure come out nice and clean.

After a wet tumble I toss everything in this bucket and spin it round and round. Then use a magnet to grab the pins at the bottom of the bucket

The pins can be transferred from separator back into the tumbler barrel for storage by pouring the water and pins into the barrel and then pouring off the excess water. Once you get the hang of this, only a few pins are left behind in the separator to pick up with the magnet.

^^^^ That's exactly what I do the magnet makes a good cleanup..without it it's a pain maually

Hi , I de prime first , then start my inspections for cracks or bulges then tumble

Hi!

For pistol cases, i use wet or dry tumbling before depriming/sizing and for rifles cases, i use dry tumbling before depriming/sizing and then wet tumbling to get rid of the case lube.

I deprime after tumbling to guarantee the flash hole is clean. Only a consideration if you use walnut or similar particle media.
