"Tuned" my really loose NP 29 1911 extractor

That bevel on the bottom inside of the extractor tip is especially important, since as the slide pushes a round forward out of the magazine and levers it up into the chamber, the case rim is actually sliding up the face and into the extractor gap from below. A sharp extractor tip can dig into the brass at this point and cause a failure to go into battery. Bevel and smooth it and it goes like butter, but leave plenty of extractor above that to haul the brass back out after firing.

The sights on the Norc are garbage, I think I'll black out the back and maybe try a bright fluorescent paint on the front post.

So other than tuning the extractor (which I should do more of) and apparently sights, what are some other must do NP29 mods?

I have quite a few Norc 1911s. Every one of them got new sights, a trigger job and new grips (the Hogue Palm Swell is comfortable, cheap and does not interfere with the mag release). My Norcs (and SAMs) shoot as well as a real modern Colt.

Interested as well, I don’t get many FTE’s on my NP29 but a pile of brass in the face which is obviously a bit annoying :(

The 1911 is a new design and there is not much known about them or published....

True, but information specific to the Norinco 9mms is a little more scarce. Or at least I'm not finding it easily...

Sounds like your ejector. But I'm no pro.

The Norinco is a 1911. Any fault it has has also occurred in the other makes and they get cured the same way.

Only a few makes to the shaping and polishing of the extractor.

The brass in the face seems to be a common issue with Norcs. Some of my other brand 1911s have a longer ejector. I suggest re-shaping it as shown in the pictures above. Green profile.

The Norc has either a staked on front sight, like a real Colt (narrow tenon), so buy a Colt fibre optic sight:

Or it has a dovetailed front sight. The pistol dovetail is non-standard and narrow. Buy whatever front sight you want and have your gunsmith widen the dovetail:

I have the dovetailed front sight. Instead of having a gunsmith widden the dovetail on the slide, could the sight not be filed to fit? How much more narrow is the norinco dovetail compared to the industry standard?
