Turkey Start Date Ontario

I forget the simple answer to this question as the 2012-2013 hunting regs for Ontario are not out yet, does spring turkey open the last saturday in april or the 25th of april, or am I just wrong

I went for a walk this morning at daylight. Holy crap I must of heard 100 gobbles. Anything that made a sound was drowned out by gobbles. It was real heavy frost and -5 and they were very vocal. Was surprised.

I love it my boss will never expect a hunting season to start in the middle of the week. And I watched 2 toms fight and the winner chased a hen down and raped her this morning. So I believe the season will miss the rut yet again

Turkey season in Ontario Allways opens on April 25th unless the 25th lands on a Saturday or Sunday and then it is pushed ahead to the next Mondays which would be the 27th.

Well, some folks have determined that turkeys are already mating.

I heard a lot of gobbling yesterday up at the farm ...

My buddy (who's very knowledgeable about birding) has concerns that if the mating continues, it may be very, very tough hunting when the season arrives.

They're mating here in Ontario, where I am at least. I watch a Tom and a Jake in my back field chasng hens and trying to get some the other day. Funny, watching turkeys trying to mate is really similar to watching fella's at the local watering hole on a Friday night
