Well now I am embarrassed ,I have had a Turkish made S -08 weatherby 28g for about 7 years ,Bought it new out of PR and today I find out there is a safety recall since 2014!!Checked the serial numbers yes it does fall into the category although it is on the high end ,so the issue is slamfire when closing the bolt and they say do not use .Hmm well it has not done this in over 400 rounds that I have used it but they claim that closing it dimples the primer. So conducted a test and yes it just scratches it(pic coming) The gun has never gone off on me and I used it one whole season of pheasant hunting with no issues .Should I send it in ??

Well old friend, it’s a warrantee issue (free), the primer is being marked, hunting season is a long time from now, git ‘er dun. Keep the paperwork to go with the gun when it goes to the next owner, your conscience is clear. J.

Most of the Turkish guns look nice and wet nice wood available for extra $$, but most it seems are lipstick on a pig.
The metal used are soft or brittle, the springs don't last.
After 1000 rounds your going to have a wallhanger

Not that I completely disagree with you because I had a Turkish gun with soft springs but I’d be interested to hear how you quantify that statement. Have you had guns that didn’t last long or witnessed friends guns that broke down prematurely?

Nice chat with Weatherby this morning and they DO have a Canadian firm that handles their warranty. So will box it up and send it in hoping that it is not years before it returns (if ever) .Was surprised that I stumbled on this and it was not broader knowledge .I read nothing in any of my hunting /shooting mags. wondering if anyone else had heard of it ??

Nope…but if it makes you feel better, I’ll soon be sending in a Browning for a recall warranty work as well. It happens unfortunately. How you get treated during the warranty repairs is sometimes what separates good companies from the arsehole companies.

I’ve got a weatherby SA-08 deluxe. Nice looking gun and well finished. Nice soft recoil pad. It has a heavy/light gas piston that you need to change out to reliably cycle light loads which is a nuisance but overall I’m happy with the purchase.

Need multipull choice.
Had a Sinsinahhtee, pile of rubbish.
Had a Bobwhite, sweet s/s.
Have a Canuck.
Whilst nutt'in fancy, I have no fear strapp'in it on the quad and gitt'er durtee.
Comes with the numerous butts.
Cheap like borsh and treated equally.

Again me with the turkish guns ,I picked up my 28g. Huglu single shot and what a piece it is ,not in the good sense either. The gun is itself relatively well finished trigger is atrocious but the killer is the hulls will not extract. In fact I have to use a ramrod to get the fired hulls out of the breach, knife won't even work.So I am looking in the breach and there are grinder marks around the top where it "appears" some "craftsman" and this is new in the box ground out the inside .Cannot believe it but yes thats it,so off to the smith to see if it can be reamed to fit the expanded hull a bit better.:(

That would be COMPLETELY unacceptable IMO. However, every manufacturer of every thing mechanical has a lemon leave their factory from time to time with the exception of the VERY best that come at prices well beyond the average consumer. Example, in 2009 I bought a brand new John Deere 4830 sprayer. First year it was good. Second year it started to have issues. Third year it was literally broke down ALL THE TIME. I went to my dealer and told him that, unless he sharpened his pencil REAL sharp (to trade for a new one) I was changing colours. He came through on the price so I tried another 4830 (2012). I still have that sprayer and it now has 650,000 ares on it and going strong. It has been a STELLAR machine. MOST Deere stuff is pretty good but they have their rotten apples from time to time. Point is, that, while getting a POS new from the factory is not acceptable, one or two rotten apples does NOT necessarily mean that the whole barrel is bad. Of course there ARE manufacturers that build nothing but crap focusing on price point but with todays tech, (CNC for example) decent working quality CAN be had for a reasonable price, just don't expect the quality of a $10,000 sxs in a $1200 sxs. I have only handled ONE Turkish gun, the 20GA CZ Bobwhite that I bought a few months ago and, for the money am quite pleased with it. I don't care for the cheesy laser cut checkering or the cheesy laser cut engraving as well as a few other cosmetics but functionally, it has been a real pleasure to shoot so far and WELL worth the $ for what it is.

Huglu's come with extractors not ejectors

See below:

In extractor shotguns the extractor does all the lifting of the shotgun shell. When the gun is opened, it is using the mechanical advantage of the barrels hinging open to raise the extractors, and bring the shell just high enough for you to be able to remove it manually.

Did I not say extractor...Yes LTK I have the same CZ bobwhite in 12g and it is fine wondering now if this was a return? after some home made attempts ,well will deal with it guess I'm learning more about the Turkish :)

The last one ,28g is good to go there were a couple issues as well as the hangup with the extractor ,but smoothed out patterned it shoots 30/70 so low but at least it shoots now

Have a Canuck operator 12ga 3" chamber ~18" barrel. Wonder if it's useless when it comes to hunting and should only be reserved for targets?

Because of the 18" barrel. Thought shorter barrels make it very hard. Granted I haven't hunted with it, just from what I've read. If someone knows that it's possible, let me know

Short barrels are perfectly fine for hunting. The choke barrel diameter and forcing cones dictate the pattern. Not the length. A longer heavier gun may swing smoother and be harder to stop your swing but a short barreled shotgun can do just fine if you take the time to learn to handle them correctly
