Turn your AR15 into a 50 BMG

Even if a club is rated for 50 BMG, who wants to shoot it at 400 yds? The entire point of a 50 is long range and there are just not that many 1000 yd ranges around let alone ranges longer than that.

I think for the pleasure of shooting a 50 BMG, I would settle for 400 yards on a range. A buddy has 1000 acres, wouldn't be an issue to find 500+ yards there.

Have you shot a 50? It's not what I would call "pleasurable". Unless of course you think sticking your head in a garbage can while someone beats on it with a baseball bat pleasurable.

Lol....yes I have shot plenty .50s before including full autos south of the border. I like a big bang once in a while!!!
The most fun I have ever had was dumping 100 rounds at the knob Creek machine gun shoot.
Now, you wanna talk about headache....try walking around all day for 3 days at one of those gatherings!
Have you seen people's faces after they shoot a .50 ?
Oh and if someone came forward with an offer to sell me a TNW S/A M2HB belt fed.....I'll cash in some chips asap to buy that big ticket puppy any day all day every day!

My son bought the upper from Can Am and the Lower from Alberta Tactical. It's a lot of fun to shoot and not that expensive unless you want to shoot it like a 22. Also my 303 has as much kick as it does. It was a way to get into the 50 shooting without spending 3 times the money. Of course it's not going to be as accurate as a some of the high dollar ones but it was an affordable way of trying the 50.

I'd shot 50 machine gun for work, but the first time I shot my own 50 rifle, you couldn't blow the $hit eating grin off my face with tannerite.

The RCBS Ammomaster can be converted pretty easily to load .50BMG. Used examples can be had in the $250-$400 range, depending on how they're set up and what extras are included. You can get set up to reload for a lot less than 1000K. Buying powder and primers in bulk will yield a not insubstantial savings. It would be interesting to see how powder coated cast lead bullets would perform. I already cast BP bullets and slugs in the same weight range as your average .50BMG round and know a couple of mould makers who could produce the necessary custom mould. My original hesitation over the DA upper was that it had to go on a restricted AR lower. The only local range rated for it is the DND's, so totally impractical. But a NR lower would be a totally different prospect. I just wish I didn't have so many other projects in the works eating up my mad money, otherwise I think I'd haven't other choice but to drop ATRS a call. I already have an Ammomaster kicking around. :)

Right!!!!!! Few shots is equal to an hour long yoga session if you ask me. I go home all relaxed after taking it out on downrange steel...Laugh2

I am seriously contemplating the ATRS lower with the DA upper.
I'm also doing the homework and math as we speak to see if I can bring in the Safety Harbor complete rifle for less (@ATRS...no disrespect meant guys, love what you do)
I have a strong feeling it'll be around the same.

If I can find someone for 50 reloads, would help as well :p
