Twist rate for Mohawk 600?

Clamp the end of the barrel in the vice ,put a 36" pipe wrench on the action,2 turns aught to do it, should be plenty of twist ,It's only a remington.

and yes I have been told today, twice yesterday:D

The specified twist in that Remington barrel is 1-9¼" This will stabilize any hunting bullet you are likely to use up to and including the Speer 105 grain SP. I had great success with the 100 partition and IMR4350 in the short tube. IIRC, I got 2940 (+-10)fps with 45 grains. [work up from 3 grains below, please] These rifles are generally quite accurate. 2 turns? that aint enough, proly aughta atleast have 3 or 4 on it

in order to have three of four turns with a 9" twist it would have to be 27" or 36" long......an 18-1/2" barrel with a 9" twist will have a bit less than two turns......there's no rifling in the chamber so the rod won't turn thru there....

the only 244's with the 12" twist are 722's and first year 700's...

I check mine from the muzzle with a bronze brush attached.A piece of masking tape around the barrel and a dot marked [lined up] on both the tape + rod. When it lines up after being shoved down the pipe mark rod again measure length.Done...................Harold
