Type 56, SKS...

Does yours have factory codes?. My Marstar type 56 has no codes(actually nothing) only S/Ns and I still cannot get an answer as to why this is.

This is very weird and I don’t understand why yours doesn’t have them?!
My Type 56 from Marstar (see post #8) has all the required factory codes/numbers: /306\ - Chinese characters which translate to “Type 56 carbine” - serial number.
All serial numbers on the left side of the receiver, bolt, magazine and the left side of the stock are matching.

Would that be the Chinese SKS known as a "Clandestine" or "Ghost" model I've read of?

I think the ones you are talking about are the SKS the Chinese sent to vietnam and labeled them M 21 and a No plus serial # between 7 million and 9 million these would likely be the clandestine copies ! Someone kindly gave me a site ( yooperj.com) has a lot of SKS info, also a stickies at the top of the red rifle page!

I heard of the pinned but never the welded,, are they the commercial ones? I have heard differing views of the pinned versus threaded, I don't know if anyone has done a fair comparison. I understand the threaded are the first ones to come out and phased out during early 70's I think! I would like one of the early 1956 era Chinese/Russian copies or a Vietnam copy with the M21 stamped on the side, they would be mostly refurbed of course!

I still hear rumours of more arriving soon, not Marstar!
Edit, yes, for all that need/want a Chinese SKS for their collection there will be some coming soon! New, and refurb which is something I never seen before! Don't know the serial # or years but I am told soon!
