Well this will be way easier than I thought, instead of making it longer and screwing around welding new metal Ill just shrink it and have it sit on one of the ribs.

Should have it done tommorow :) does anyone know what type of wood they used for the stock ?

I believe its catalpa (chu wood)

Well I dont have any of that on hand, will try to find some tho :) thanks for the info much appreciated. I guess Ill just make the handles out of purple heart tommorow and give it a nice dark stain until I find some of that chu wood.

will modify both of mine. and throw the other on EE :)

Nah, sell it to me and I'll modify it. Try checking PJ White for the wood. There also used to be a place in Esquimalt near the old rail station that sold exotic hardwood blanks as well, not sure if they are still there though. Some of the flecks in the original wood almost looks like beach. I bet you could stain and poly that to match. I may even have some in my shop at work.

Does the bayo lock up nice and tight?

The buttstocks are chu wood on the fixed-stock rifles, but the handguards and grip are Beech, which is easy to find in Canada.

I suspect the PLA only makes military guns of beech these days, and PLA perts were used on our rifles. The PLA hasn't ordered buttstocks in years, they only order folders now, so the butts had to be made up for TI's order and they used available CHU wood like on the Type 81 AKM.
