Type 81 in 5.56/223 rem possibility ?

While we're bossing around the CCP on what guns to make; I'd like the Type 81 LMG, but with an 18.55" bbl, chambered in 6.5creedmoor, with ak47 grips, no bipod and no carry handle.

You might be suprised next year or so, little birdy at EMEI told me they are working on something like that

I really really hope that they're going to use type 81 mags... would make the most logical sense considering the type 81 Supply we have, and the AK mags are all so easily modded to fit.

Type 81 mags would also retain the bolt hold open function that currently exists on the 556 variant.

Nothing from EMEI about the LHG mate......but seems they are in the early stage for a 7.62 type97 variant.....

Hold up. If its 7.62, I presume its 7.62 NATO for something like type 97. Type 97 chassis is purely western export, so no need to create more in a 7.62 combloc cartridge which the PLA itself has stopped using decades ago.

That would be a negative. They would basically have to build an entirely new rifle because it's a scaled-up cartridge. 762 x 39 is cheap and plentiful in Canada and other parts of the world where this can be exported to, and the mechanics of such a firearm are already existing for the 5.8 QBZ-95.

Plus North Sylva having their hands in the cookie dough are relaying what Canadian consumers want, and what has been largely expressed is the need for a 762 by 39 bullpup that uses rock and lock mags.

This whole project will be largely a flop if they only change the calibre but not the Magwell

I'm not sure if I agree that it would be a total flop.

IMO it would be awesome to see both, rock'n'lock AK/Type 81 (AK is my personal preference), AND AR magazines, so we could still use the 7.62x39 AR pistol magazines.
