Hello Everyone,

First of all, I would like to thank TI for bringing the Type 81 to the show, and I would like to specifically thank Nick for being more than accommodating.

I am super excited for the Type 81, as I am sure most of you are.
This thread is to show off TI's Type 81, and to answer any questions anybody might have. I talked to TI extensively, and have covered almost all possible questions ;) So without further delay, here it goes.

- Type 81 Poly is Exclusive to Tactical Imports!
- Developed and built to Canadian design :canadaFlag:
- The Type 81 is 7.62x39.
- The Type 81 will be available in Non-Restricted Class only for now. The LMG version and under-folder will not be in the first import. It will be a future option.
- The first batch will be in customers hands Q3 2016.
- Extra mags will only be $29!
- Serial number range will presumably start as 160001-161000.
- Wood will be a lighter stained wood, with visible wood grain texture. The sample one has a painted wood, but it will not be available.
- Dust cover rail and top handguard rail are in the works.
- Metal finish is grey parkerized, same as Chinese military ones.
- They will have chrome barrels, chrome bores, chrome gas system.
- Trigger seemed nice and crisp.
- Gas system is adjustable, and can be turned with the head of a cartridge case.
- Safety is on receiver, and has a indicator click when put into "Safe" or "Fire."
- Sights are adjustable.
- Barrel will have extra ribs/rings not pictured in this model, for the rifle grenades.
- Extra mags will be available in the future.
- Drum mags will be available in the future.
- Price will be $999. Comes with the Rifle, cleaning kit and tools, cleaning rod, 2 5/30 BHO mags.
- No bayonet as of yet, original may or may not fit.
- Engraving is not final, and will have finish over it.

Pre-order will start at the end of the Sportsman show. Week of 21st, pre-orders should open. Options will be side folder and fixed stock.

Product is not final, will have changes. The on hand AK mag did not fit. They are working on trying to modify one to fit, they should get it to fit. This one shown is restricted, final model will have a few changes, and be slightly longer.

If you have any questions, ask them! :)

Gun feels nice. Points nice, I like the sights, trigger seems good, feels well built.

I look forward to doing an in depth review with live fire, and will post that along with a link to a full review with video in the future.

Pics: (Keep in mind, this is a prototype. Don't expect a final finish, wood type, etc. Final product will be more refined.)

$1000 seems a little steep for my blood, will wait for later imports price might Come down by then and hopefully the dollar will improve.

Looks like it's no where near the quality of the run of the original Type 81's. The ones that came to America before the ban had excellent bluing and fit and finish on the parts.

Not sure if they're cutting corners here, but I'd like to see an original blued model with non painted Chu hardwood like seen on the original ones. For a $1000, there won't be as crazy of a demand, since a VZ.58 is in the same price range. Too bad.

Maybe we might see better versions with other importers, I hope.

I gotta admit, These pictures are making me rethink if I want one or not. That looks horrible. :(

Looks like it was made in a basement.

Like I said, the original will be different. Stock will have lighter wood grain and have a nice finish.

Remember, this is just a prototype. NOT a final product.

I thought it would be blued, but I have been told this particular gun is just a prototype. Not final production. Those will have a different look to them and better build. Also, this gun was in a lab for 4 years and has been well tested.

They promised to keep it as low as possible. The exchange rate now does not help. The gun feels well built and I believe it will be well worth the price.

It's great to see other NR black rifles on the market.

I really think people will like it.

They?
