Type 81 is approved!!!!!

Parts kits and blank receivers anyone????
Over 1000 for one of these guns from China seems like your paying purely for the look of an ak and not the actual product...

Exactly! I can't imagine these could beat the function and reliability of the CZ 858.

Besides it looking like an AK, what is the appeal??? Please explain.

Whatever floats your boat... I wouldn't own any of that Chinese crap if it was given to me. Had few several years ago. Fit and finish is crap. Shot okay but they fell apart. I guess they are okay to people that don't know any better... lmao Also never heard of any Americans upset they couldn't have a Norinco especially when the can buy an actual AK not a Chinese rip off. You keep your Norinco's I will keep my Springfield's, Knights and other quality firearms...
Keep your hate to yourself, I have/had Knights, Accuracy International, Swiss Arm, H&K, I love my Moto Guzzi and my favorite Camera brand is Hasselblad, I own top of line stuff but I also own Norincos, they are fine working tools, fit and finish ain't the best but they work fine, I certainly will not call them crap.
Americans ##### about not being able to get Norincos all the time, they pay more for a used nork 1911 than we are paying new... sure my Kimber is prettier and more accurate, but it jams more often than the "Grateful Dead", whereas my Nork just keeps on going...
your ignorance is astounding.

I mentioned in the other thread my first time ever shooting experience was when I visited a Chinese prison, the surprisingly friendly officers handed me one of the guard's type 81 to shoot into a near by fish pond,
I emptied the mag and thought that was it, then one of the officers went back into the building then came back with a water bucket full of 7.62x39...the 81 did not jam once, needless to say, I had fun that day :)
I don't know about others, this is why I want a 81.

While it's great to own quality stuff, not everyone can afford to. I own a lot of quality stuff and I also own multiple Norinco rifles and handguns. The fit and finish isn't too bad considering the price and I have yet to have one fall apart. For you too say that they are ok for people that don't know better is somewhat insulting. Lots of us know exactly what we are getting, but choose to own Norincos because we like to own and shoot them. Some own them because they can't afford "Quality" stuff like you can, but still want to own reliable firearms to enjoy. We are all gun enthusiasts no matter what we choose to own or can afford to own.

I cant believe people are actually hating on a new firearm being available to the Canadian market. Everyone should be celebrating and support the introduction of new platforms. Any other stance is just ignorant.

Fudds caused this whole mess in the first place... Dammit if you don't want one, don't buy it, but please don't spread BS and hate.

Just watch someone bring the rifle into the RCMP and spread BS as to why we shouldn't own it.

^^ nice can't wait, before someone mention SKS again, the type 81 bolt may look like a SKS bolt from the outside, it's actually more of a VZ+AK combo, short stroke piston + AK like rotating bolt.

Very cool to hear a first hand experience!!!!!!

I can't say I've read this whole thread, but from what I have read. Why would this cost $2000 and why would you pay that much for it? I'd love one of these, but if Norinco can manufacture and sell AR15's for $600 it should be able to do these for the same price or less. And having them design and build crap like rails and bipod mounts and things.. That's going to spike the price. Just leave them classic, with an NR option preferably. From a quick google search the normal barrel is only about 1 inch shorter than required. That shouldn't be a problem. Sorry if I'm beating a dead horse or have wrong info, but I don't have the energy to read the entire thread.

If there is anyway I can come up with the money if and when these become available, I will be having at least one. I have a restricted VZ58 and this would make a nice companion.

Better looking, likely better made, accessories fairly easy to get, does the bolt hold open on an empty mag? If not there's really little I like about the 81 over the vz. I doubt it will be a lot cheaper than a vz58
