Type 81 Owners Corner !

negative on all the preorder nonsense, people who ordered after they arrived have already got them whilst others in it for 2 years already have to wait pretty pathetic

Yup I know! Painfully I know, I ordered as soon as the pre-order went active online! Yet still no shipping notice. (ordered a folder with extra's) I was joking in the other thread that I might order a fixed now to tide me over until my folder ships! Sadly it would probably work.

Got my tracking today it says 12 days from Calgary to Newfoundland... it's 11 days to ontario and 1 day from ontario to Newfoundland it would seem

Mines expected the 20th here in NL.hoping I’ll actually be in the province to go play with it.

Thecyaba,where you located?

Finally took fews pics of my Type 81.

The little puch in the tool kit is great to remove the two pins on the bolt, wich secure the firingpin and the extractor.

If you wonder what is the pentagonal shaped tool in the kit,its actually a gas port cleaning tool, to scrape aways the carbon. There also a cleaning rod extension in the kit and the usual brush and cleaning jag.

In all, i am very happy with the rifle, the finish is good enough for such rifle, Not sure when i will have time to try it out but i hope for the best.

Ill train with mine next weekend. Videos will be posted.

Best way to see if a rifle works is to put it thru its paces. ;)
Ill bring ny Cz858 as back-up of course.

I keep coming here for reviews of the 81 but all I get is complaints.

He's some new pics, been posting on the TI page but it's just pages of complaining, I'll come here more.

This is not a direct bolt on but a little time with the Dremel and the Magpul MOE+ AK grip is on my rifle and is much more comfortable.

Good to know you can get poly mags to work! Hope they follow up with aftermarket one.

Nice laminate wood on the ak.

Now that I know what needs to be done I should be able to mod an AK Pmag in a couple minutes.

I believe it is a Steyr and it felt very solid and the wood was very nice.

I still haven't fired it since modding my sights but they are so much nicer to look through since I bubba'd them.
Removed the top bar and made the sight opening a little wider. Refinished in flat black enamel.

How dose the wood quality feel?

It's fine but I've been carrying it around a lot lately and it's going to get beaten up pretty bad. I'm a little clumsy and it's been banged on the chain link fence of the dog run a few times and I smack it on the odd doorway once in a while.
I compared the Magpul MOE stock to the original and it looks like it will work with a little fitting with the Dremel. I'm going to see what other options are out there first though.

It looks to be no different then modding grips from the AK for the vz.
Same grip ferrule as the vz so it looks like I may have some spare grips now

There is a plate with a lip that's riveted to the bottom of the receiver that the original grip sits inside, you just need to make a groove in the grip for the lip to go into.
