I was debating machining something to fit a standard AK rail, but everything is speculative until I have a rifle in hand to examine and measure.
If I attach a rail, I would prefer to rivet it on, but will need to see if there is space to properly rivet one on.
Riveting is doable, but the siderail I have gets very close to existing rivets.
The T81 safety is easily removable--I'd be tempted to grind off the existing lever and weld one onto the opposite side--resulting in a CSA type safety on the right side. This is just to avoid conflict with mounting the rail and safety.
One of my rails can mount without conflict with the safety, but disengagement is hard to do as the safety lever runs paralell to the siderail
