Type-81 pictures, range reports, and modifications thread

It was more with the pmags having the pins too high up, so the rounds have too much tension with all 5 loaded in there. It contacts the bolt so they either don't rock in or they do and it binds up the bolt.
I've heard the T81 doesn't play nice with polymer mags but I haven't tried them myself.

I looked at the mag..it looks like the follower is really tall compared to the type81 steel magazines. I guess the way to fix it would be take the pin out, trim the follower and then put another rivet back. not sure how legal that'd be LOL

Maybe a gunsmith could legally do it, one who has the right licensing for servicing law enforcement/military firearms, like Wolverine?

FYI, SigmaCo Canada finally has a retail site, as noted on this Reddit thread, https://www.reddit.com/r/firearmdealscanada/comments/12z65du/sigmaco_canada_type_81_accessories/ . Forum sponsor Rangeview Accessories sells some of their products, so you could probably they bring in some of the Sigmaco products they don't list if you want to support a forum business. Of particular interest to Type 81 SR owners who have some AR parts handy is the SR AR-15 stock and pistol grip adapter.

I see so much stuff for fixed stock version, but no love for folders.

It's because the folder has a different style of rear trunnion that has to be ground off to modify, vs. simply removing a wooden stock with a couple of pins. It's a shame because some stuff could be made for the folder like a cheekrest in place of the original wooden pieces on the stock, or a buttpad or something. I wish I was more industrious, I'd do something like that!

i know right? I love the commie folding stock, it the most robust and easy to deploy folding stock i have ever used, my only complaint was the short LOP with it.
but i found its over all design better then the one on the PE90, XCR, MDT, keltecs. its an easy push of an accessible button deploy, it locks up nice and tight, and its an easy button push to stow. no trying to pull up the stock, push some indented button on the far side, smack it to break a friction lock....

For the guys who use a magpul Zhukov stock installed in the manner that Gnutzguns uses on YouTube, do you think a zenitco pt 5 stock would work in the same manner. By this I mean insert it into the type 81 rear, file it to a correct angle and use screws to fasten it?
Thanks

Edit: The link didn't work. I was referring to this stock

If you don't have the Zenico, Midwest Industries sells a very similar stock using 1913/Picatinny attachment as part of their Alpha AK line, and you can use the SigmaCo Canada Type 81 1913 stock adapter to mount it.

Where to buy the Midwest Alpha AK stock? Cant find any Canadian retailers that sell them.

DLask, Red Deer Shooter Centre, and CTC Supplies all sell Midwest products. There is also a listing for the stock at Gravel Agency, which may be a wholesaler. I would ask one of them if they can bring it in for you, or get a shop with branches on both side of the border like IRunGuns to buy it straight from Midwest and have them tranship it to Canada to their store here with their bulk purchases, and then send it from there to your location.
