id64,

What kind of stain did you use? That's a gorgeous colour! Did you manage to easily take off the metal at the front of the wooden handguard, or did you just leave it on and cover it somehow?

///

I also took a closer look at my front sight, and it appears the entire post is less that 1 degree off from vertical, which is why I have to adjust my front post quite a bit to the left to be on target. I wonder whether I'd be able to rotate it just that little bit? Any thoughts?

This is al stock stain ;) Rotating from sight is not possible since it's held in place by two roll pins

Thanks for the compliments guys, like most things its getting better with practice and slowly acquiring the proper gear to get the job done.

Yeah, I'm really liking it too. Good swell for a nice grip. I think it kinda looks odd with the cleaning rod missing, though.

In other news, just got around to modifying M305 5/10 mags I got a few weeks back. I could have gone with pmags like Murray but I felt like metal mags were somehow more appropriate.
I think it turned out well.
Obviously not as easy as it would have been with pmags, but it wasn't that much of a hassle either. About 15 minutes per mag taking my time with a dremel, using cutting disks, then a burr head (or whatever they are called), and finally a sanding drum pass or two for final fitting. I quick-browned the bare metal back to a dark sheen to protect them too, and that's that. Tested them with a few rounds in my backyard, no problem.
What I learned from this is that the original mags allow for a LOT of extra clearance on the locking-lug on the back for the BHO, so my first mag I removed way more than necessary.

Finally finished my build video.

Is that wood supplier local? Replacing all the Chew wood with some nice maple or other hardwood would be pretty nice.

Edited: I know the company, having been prior. Just didn't know the name. Another project to add to the list!
