Type-81 pictures, range reports, and modifications thread

lol yup .... actually, it was only 6 hrs when TI said it was 90% sold but then it took another 24 hrs to sell the remaining 10%. i thought that was weird.

When they announced 90% sold the only option left was OR Fixed...how is it strange that the OR fixed represented 10% of the stock and the least desirable?

some did in the past the t81 bayonet but honestly i do not see the use if you re taking out the t81 in the bush for hunting but that is just me.

Nah. I want the folding spike just because. The grenade launcher sleeve is 100% useless so why not use the realestate for something else. The SKS pig sticker makes for a good mono pod… plus it’s bad ass.

The gun already shoots like a bullet hose so the extra weight off the barrel won’t make much of a difference.

even tho its least desirable doesnt mean none was sold in the first 18 hrs when they announced 90% was sold. so for argument sake there was a total of 600 available x 90% = 540 thats is 30 sold per hour.

the remaining 10% or 60 it took 30 hrs or 2 per hour? so it dropped from 30 to 2 per hour and that doesnt sound that strange to you? buyers will still would buy least desirable cos nothing else are available.

i rechecked the time table. these are correct.

Honestly, I think he realized that folders are selling out fast (this time), so he slipped some more fixed in. As I said, he always has more in stock.

TI mentioned on their thread that they brought in 1/3rd more OR fixed based on their previous sales. Explaining why they were in stock the longest.

no doubt. i was looking for a non-OR folder, i was in no hurry so i was surprised how fast that sold out. yup, they brought in less this time. cant blame them, buyers can be very finicky. last shipment they love fixed and this time its folders.

i end up not buying, i would have bought others if i didnt have one already, its a fixed. also i knew there are more coming so im in no hurry.

I personally think people only wanted the fixed before because 1: they wanted the fixed AK buttstock look. And 2: They wanted to reduce their chances of receiving a bent Type 81. Since then many have discovered that the folders are more iconic, more comfy, more handy and that the bend really isnt a big deal.

i cant agree with 1. cos the fixed stock doesnt look like the AK but i do agree with the rest. certainly no reports of severely bent.

We all know a lot of resellers bought quantity. The EE will be fat with type 81's for a long while.

I got bayonets for some people to collect as part of a kit but then changed their minds. Only 1 that I know of probably ended up on a rifle, rest are just in the cases or safes for looks

Hello!

I am a CNC Programmer out of work due to coronavirus being present inside the machines and all over the floor or something in my shop.

I've modeled and printed a few T81 accessories that seem to work well for some production runs at a local shop.
- MLOK lower handguard
- Ambi selector switch with the same positioning as an AR (vertical position being semi, and horizontal being safe)
- 'Extended' charging handle like that of the Zenit style.

I have a few other things printing at the moment that I'd like to test before announcing.

I read the forums this morning and there seems to be at least mild interest in these things. Anyone think it's worth bringing them to at least small production runs (of 50, or 100 parts), or are we looking at a ban?

Not sure if I'm allowed to 'market' things in this category, this isn't really a personal profit venture as much as it is me trying to make sure that if I put something out for the community, that it isn't at a huge personal cost. Mods move or kill my post if you have to, I'm just trying to help out my fellow T81 guys.
