If you can get a Type 81 with the threaded "optic ready" pins installed, or can acquire the safety and threaded from someone with a spare set , GNutzGuy has do it yourself instructions on how to modify to fabricate a mounting plate to to add a commonly available AK rail for use with a 1913 rail or Eastern Block side mounted optic. https://youtu.be/L2b79LsUOnQ
Just like how I tease you guys with the handguard, Murray teases me with his side plate!
The retailer is a secret!
ETA is so close now, really just hung up on the anodizing a bit and trying to make sure we get the right people on the job (Hardcoat Anodize Type III Black MIL-8625).
Excellent work! Finding a proper anodizer was the most difficult part, back when I was making AR upper and lowers.

ill buy one even if its not painted for good coin!
I was originally going to Liquid nitride them... that yeilds the real rich black u see on the prototypes in the video. But the facility that offers that service quoted me 2 weeks lead time. Not a huge deal but everything got bumped back when i noticed the rails all needed some TLC before going into the process. This delayed my submission. At the same time i switched jobs to a different machine shop that offers in house coatings. Ceracoat, Gas nitride and phosphate. My boss liked the project and said i could use the services for free. So then i submitted a 2 samples, one kit for Gas nirtide, one "optics ready" for zinc phosphate (since most of the optic ready TI rifles are parkerized anyways). The gas nitride turned out "good enough" not quite as rich as liquid, but decent enough and the lead time is one day haha. So ive decided tomorrow ill drop the whole works off to get Nitrided. Theyll be done monday. Ill photo op the sample this weekend and have some fun plinking with it. The Phosphate sample on the other hand came out terrible. Like battleship grey. So i need to look into some options regarding that. Or if it comes down to it, i may just nitride them as well. But that would put a "blued" looking part on a matt black gun. Visually not ideal.
Murray 3-D I might have missed it but does your scope mount needs to have the safety re positioned on the left?
