Type 81 sr....

People always want what they cannot have. An original SVD is around $30K US in the United states. I am not even sure there is one in Canada, and if so, they are prohibited. Imagine how jealous the Americans must be. First the type 81, now the sniper. A type 81 LMG sold for over $30K US last year in the US, just imagine. Over here people like you probably call it ugly.

It is pretty amazing that we can have one - which reassembles it - here in Canada at a reasonable price - advantage of mass production. TI listened to us, well maybe not to you.

It is basically a LMG with the looks of a SVD. What else do we want? Spend 200 hours and countless money making our own?

I did not hesitate one second to buy one, just needed a second to figure out the configuration - and I think I made the right decision with the NPZ scope.

i did the same as you and with the same scope.

US commands these prices for SVD and T81 only because it is impossible to bring more in, so they are collectables.. this T81 variant is not bad by any stretch, in fact it is very nice and thanks to TI for bringing it in. It's just not what some people want, that's it..

To put the price point another way, without a scope and cheekpad the Tabuk reproduction from an American manufacturers in 2013 was $1750 as listed on Facebook.

you imagined wrong, Americans are masters of marketing and they will not be jealous or envious of a wanna be sniper rifle.

some canadians T81 LMG was on gunbroker several months ago and sold for US$2000. yes, the LMG from the 90s sold for what you said.

and yes, i wont spend 200hrs or buy a custom/bubba when i can have a factory sniper.

dunno. same way the illegal pistols come up here with the exception of using a drone cos the LMGs are too freaking heavy, imagine 10 drones would be needed, lol.

This one was removed by gunbroker and the seller got banned.

It was a Canadian LMG.

no what? most american werent jealous cos they knew better thats why the bidding was low.

i saw 3 canadian lmg (they were dumb enough to post pics of the serial numbers) sold on GB, i just check they were all deleted. rightfully so cos they were all illegals as i said to medvedqc.

if the buyers ever received the illegal T81 LMGs. my guess the ATF or who ever will probably make them deact so they didnt lose everthing.

No, because Chinese newly imported guns are banned, so anything smuggled across the border is illegal and the people did not bid on this or others because they don't go to gunbroker to buy illegal firearms.

I can't tell you for how much a new LMG would sell for in the US if it were legal.

The price of above $30K is created out of rarity. People always want what they can't have. Human nature.

Hypothetical; TI stated they will be able to get Type 81 magazines readily, even after Type 81 production ceases. Crusader Arms has indicated they are developing a 7.62x39 mm Templar that will take AK magazines. Crusader Arms have also indicated they intend to make the Templar in the States for the U.S. market. Would modifying 5 round Canadian compliant magazines back to full capacity for sale exclusively in the U.S. with a bolt-hold-open capable 7.62x39 mm Templar be enough to put a made-in-Canada sticker on the magazines so they no longer fall under the import restriction? Would their be enough interest in a BHO Templar to justify a Canada only variant using Type 81 magazines of Crusader can't use the mags in the States? Thanks!

ofcos that i already stated in my chinese sks sticky of the 1994 import ban however chinese sks from albania were allowed into the US the past few years.

The barrel appears to be missing the ugly step for the cleaning rod retainer and bipod. Studying the pictures closer its definitely a stew pot full of previously seen parts and new parts. The only thing id change out is the buttstock for one styled more like a PSL. Rn they got a weird but still attractive SVD PSL hybrid vibe going on lol. And the optic mount is also very weird. I dont understand why they made a new one... when the Kobra rail they already have paired with the NPZ PO 4x24mm-1 shouldve worked out. Instead they once again made some proprietary thing that may work fine with the PO 4X24mm-1, but now sits far enough ahead that many AK optics will have poor eye relief or be sitting over the ejection port.

I love my PSL I ordered one of these SR versions because I can bring my PSL with me on my trips back north

i will say the stock is really similar to the type 79/85 but not laminated and similar to the svd as well. nothing to not be happy about especially in those dark days.
