TYPE 81 users, folder or wood stock?

Folder looks better IMO, and this is the one that is issued, whereas the fixed stock was only issued on the LMG variants, so the folder is closer to the "service" model which matters to a collector like me.

just to clarify. the fixed was issued the first year of production (some to the soldiers at the vietnamese border war) then subsequently issued folders. the fixed stock on the rifle is completely different shape than that on the lmg.

id beg to differ, ive sent two rifles back for poor riveting jobs, one being a loose rivet and the other one only 1/4 of the trunnion rivets were contacting the reciever. these are assembled very poorly looking at the old type 56

it could just be you're unlucky with rivets.

i currently own both fixed and folder also i previously owned another fixed, none of them had rivets issues.

I have both. The side folder is much more comfortable to shoot. The fixed stock you have to crunch your face down into the bayonet grip of the stock to get a good sight picture and it’s just uncomfortable for me. The side folder is already at the perfect height for sight picture. Both are fun guns and if I could only get the fixed, well I guess I’d get it. My side folder is also noticeable much heavier than my fixed. Everyone who try’s mine all agree the extra weight seems to be coming from just in front of the magazine. It could just be my gun. I also don’t see a bend in either of my T81 rifles.
