Type 81

Still mystified by the hype on these antiques.....I think about the Quality firearms I could buy for the money these cchhinese stamped press fit rifles are selling for...

Novelty and nostalgia will always fetch a demand and a price. Look at how much people pay for rusty Muskets, Martini Henrys, old cars, wooden boats, certain electronics, watches, sunglasses, barn boards lol etc etc.

Novelty, sure. Nostalgic? What’s nostalgic about a firearm that hardly anyone knew existed? Perhaps some ex-PLA Chinese immigrants. That’s about it. lol

Point me to the other LMG's I can buy

This is a broken LMG... it’s fully-semi-auto.

Its nostalgic because its a classic 80's style firearm all wood and stamped steel. The ak or other ak off shoots arent that different to what we have

There are 2 factors at play here:
The fact that this is about as close as a Canadian can get to the real AK.

The people who like AK's are the type of people that put reliability above everything else.
The AK is a proven design...maybe not the most accurate one, but it was made for a battle and it has proven itself on the battlefields around the world.
So much so, that some countries have it on their flag.

The AK is a legend and the type 81 gets you as close to that legend as legally possible...that is why people are willing to pay more.

T81 is the closest replacement to the 858 so far.

Don't own one never touched a t81. But NO NO NO ^^ ;)

lol.

I agree with gristle111... it’s not an adequate “replacement” to the Vz58 platform. Maybe an AK...

What will be the “replacement” for the T81? If you think it’s “ban” proof you’re fooling yourself. In my opinion many of the people asking stupid money for the T81 are just trying to take your money and run. If you rationalize over-paying for it because of the “supply demand” or “get it before it’s banned” B.S. then your’re a fool.

Id also agree that the VZ 58 platform is easily twice the gun that the Type 81sa's are. But that still doesnt keep VZ 58 trigger time from being replaced with Type 81SA trigger time with the effects of OIC.

Under this government, theres nothing wrong or stupid about buying a gun with the intent of enjoying it while its still legal.

Id always wanted an M1a, when things got real with the Liberals I still rushed out and bought one. I only had it for 3 months before it got banned. Only fired like 80rnds thru it. Im glad that I still did, cus at least now I can say that I got to own and shoot one of my favorite Firearms as a Canadian before that pleasure was taken away from me.

This is a weak argument. SO is pretty much every other Semi Auto in North America. Do u also tell every American who has a Semi Auto AK or Thompson thats its not worth owning cus it doesnt have a fun switch ?

Not sure if they go to the chopping block. Hope not. I sold all 6 I had and waiting for the next shipment of folders and fixed stock ones. Of course, the money I made did not go wasted. Just bought a bunch of beautiful unissued Russian SKS. Honestly, those are the best ones I have ever seen and I had a lot. Taking them apart to clean off the cosmoline almost broke my heart, so untouched, like Madonna's song.
