Type 97 at lever arms

I was under the impression that all semi-auto bullpups were prohibited.
Does this mean I could now put a bullpup stock on a mini 14 and stay legal?

Ohhh man here we go!:nest:

I am new here, but in theory if tavors and chinese bullpups are allowed in that would seem to me that adding a muzzllelite bullpup stock to a mini or a 10/22 is feasible and legal.
What about the American made AUG's one could theoretically import one with a 20 inch barrel, much nicer design than either the tavor or the type 97.

Cletus, if you're not understanding the response to your question, it's due to the number of times that this comes up here. Have a read and you'll be ready for the next time it's mentioned:)

Wow, those threads are very enlightening thanks robak.
So if a weapon is designed from ground up as a bullpup its legit but any modification or adding of accesories to an existing design to make a bullpup is illegal.
The logic behind it is very askew but I get the drift.
I agree that $1499 is expensive for a relativley generic rifle design but asking double that for an untested israeli bullpup is quite absurd.
Has anybody seen pics. or the video demo of the Kel-tec .308 bull pup, now thats a rifle it is designed to use FN FAL mags ,and is completley ambidextrous as it ejects it brass forward through a tube.
I would hold off on these .223 lemons and wait for this one.

Hey Cletus,

Never heard of that Kel-tec .308 but have gone to their site and watched the video.... thanks for bringing it up.

Too bad there are no KT dealers in Canada, but I may have to call up the good folks at Questar to get me one of these. I really like the fact that they have multiple barrel lengths ( hopefully they're learning from their Sub9/2000). If it gets an FRT#, there should be a Non-Restricted variant.

You mean the kel-tec that just kinda poops the spent cartriges out the muzzle end through a tube?

I dunno I haven't heard too many good things about kel-tec. I'd take a relatively untested milspec gun like the tavor any day... (given that there's only a choice between the two of course)

RobAK's link is now dead.
Cletus,
If you read through the Newbie FAQ section, (link below) i explain it.
It is more that just "built as" a bullpup. The stock CANNOT be removed from the reciever, and Steyr AUG is prohibitted by NAME.

Also, Cletus, the isreali Tavor is not "untested" as you say. It is now entering service in various Isreali units.
The Kel-tec, however, is not much more than a prototype. I saw a few at the 2007 SHOT show. Interesting gun, but I think I'll wait until at least 100 are built befreo ordering one.:)

Cletus, the Tavor is a Lemon?? Untested?? Please, type in "Tavor" on google and start reading.

$1450 is a lot of money for a gun that will probably get called back do to high lead readings. Hahaha, stupid communists.

To be more technically correct, a stock is something that holds the receiver.

If the plastic container holds either the bolt group or gas part, then it is not a stock- it is a receiver.

If the plastic container holds a box, and that the box on its own holds the bolt group and the gas part, and can function without the plastic container - the plastic container is nothing but a stock.

Appears to be.
I just sent off an email to Marstars.
Personally $1400 is too much for a Norinco. I'm more interested in the "sniper" version. We'll see how the prices work out. I'm in no hurry to spend more money. If the price is good I'll definately look into getting one. But for $1400 I'm not really interested.

was 1400? I think it sits there at Lever at about 1800$, I could be wrong though. Plus its restricted. How much barrel work will cost on this one god only knows.

Nope, $1450.

Me read good :D

Yup it's restricted. If there was a non restricted one I'd consider it. Again the sniper version is more interesting to me. But.... only if this was an inexpensive rifle. Something fun and different.
