Type 97 Classification Issues - PART TWO

I'm hoping to god that that guy on the firearm blog is right... I've been waiting so long for this rifle. This little ray of light has lifted my spirits a bit.

I received tonight marked at 0807 another email from Canda ammo saying that my order was processed. Has everyone who ordered got this or does it mean nothing? Just business? As I already received an email that had laid out my order before, is this normal? I'm too excitable....

Arctic.

anyone know how many type 97's that Canarm was actually getting in?

so let me get this straight, if it is ranked prohibited then what happens next?

Would it not at least be a restricted worse case scenario like the ar-15????

No, IMHO, it's either going to be prohibited by the RCMP on some trumped up "story/reasoning", or it's going to remain NON-restricted as initially deemed by the RCMP when the longer barreled sample was submitted by CanAm.

Remember, the Restricted models that were sold by LeverArms had the shorter barrels. CanAm specifically had the longer barrels installed by the factory in China, that ment that they have met the requirement(s) as NON-restricted by Canadian "Law". Not that the RCMP is following Canadian Law by continuing to hold the LEGALLY IMPORTED property of CanadaAmmo!

I have an order in with CanAm, paid in full, I will wait as long as it takes to get my NON-restricted T97!!!

Cheers
Jay

I think the rcmp will prohib this thing. I feel we have a long court battle ahead of us.
I am willing go that far. I don't think the ruling would hold up in court

Quit Buying chinese...! The t97 truly is junk......

Have you tried one? I haven't, so I can't judge it personally, but from what I've read from senior CGN members, it is worth every penny. I've have owned several other Norinco products and have never encountered any mechanical problems. The finish was questionable on one of them, but that was it.

Yes I have....

Actually it is well know fact that the type 97 has the same or close to the same reliability as the ak-47, but with much better accuracy..... Do you think the Chinese would give up their ak-47's and go to all this trouble for junk?

The first troops in china that got the 97 were the special forces and the elite troops.

The type 97 is regarded in China as a break through in small arms, and that is saying alot since they are replacing the Ak-47 type rifles they already had.

So if the type 97 is prohibitated, that means what then? We do not get the rifles, and they are shipped back to china or the RCMP will destroy them? do we get our monies back and what about Canarm, what happens to their money?

So this rifle we are getting has the 18.5 inch barrel what did the orgina; type 95 or type 97 rifle that is standard with the military come with? I think it is 18.23 inches, so it is almost the same just .25 longer...

There were more than a few who had the restricted ones for a while. There is plenty of posts on it in this section(Red Rifles). I feel bad for the guys who already have them and are facing a potential class change. Somebody invested rails for the soul purpose of the type97. Now what in the hell is he supposed to do with them? RCMP...........

RCMP set up a trap to catch CanAM? Don't think so - they are not that smart.

More likely one technician found it's NR but later another said it's a CA.

Plus, so called "trap" has leave hundreds "Full Auto" Lever 97A at large on the market. Looks more like a death trap for themselves.

Also, guys, calm down please - government is slooooooooooooow.

See how long it takes Clobb to get even one answer?

Wouldn't surprise me that RCMP review the case all the way into summer.

I own a restricted T97 and let me assure you that it is a innovative, reliable and accurate. No matter what I feed it re-loads or factory ammo it always places nice tight groupings. No failures to feed no failures to fire in 2600 rnds. In fact I will go far as to say that it is arguably as good as my many AR's.
Would you offer any proof of your racially, opinionated bias?

Sounds better than any AR ive ever shot. I almost had to take a course to learn how to clear the 5 diffrent ways and AR can screw up feeds :D
