I've paid money too and would like my rifle sooner than later. But why would CanAm use this site for his updates? It's an internet forum FFS! If you're that concerned, call or email CanAm directly. And if that still doesn't satisfy you, cancel your order. But to expect a business to use an internet forum as an 'official' means of communication is somewhat misguided.

Let's review..

CanAm said what he was EXPECTING was for customs to clear the container.

People interpreted this to mean it had cleared. IT HAS NOT - YET!

Also, someone looked at lever, saw their type 97A was restricted, which it is, and assumed this applied to the CanAm one's too. They are WRONG. The CanAm one has been modified slightly to get it reclassified.
 
Sorry I haven't checked in for a while... Are the 97's still in customs???

anecdotal story....

I took the whole family to Florida for a few weeks to escape the winter. My father, who was riding shotgun, had lost his sight several years ago. An hour or so into the drive, he asked "who the hell is that British guy talking?". He had no idea what a GPS navigator was, so I explained it to him. A few more hours go by, and he asks why "the guy in the box" hasn't said anything in a while. I told him that the GPS only "speaks" when it has something important to say. He quickly shot back "your mother can learn a lesson from the GPS...".

Moral of the story... The 97's are "still in customs", and when the situation changes - or if there's "New" news, I'm certain that CanAm will advise us... in the interim, I suggest relaxing and enjoying the other parts of your existence that don't involve the 97...

BTW - where are the 97's now???

I vote we just kick back & wait for canam to do what he does, Some situations we dont have control over. Instead of panicking & making false assumtions, Just relax a little. He will ship them out as soon as he can & im sure they are still unrestricted. By the way im starting a false rumor that they are all in 7.62x39........

That would be sweet!!! FALSE RUMOUR ALERT I hear they take VZ-58 mags!!! :)
 
Hmm....something interesting today. Was at the local range which is used heavily by the RCMP. There must've been a hundred of them, all shooting what looked like T97s, still covered in packing grease. Must've been a dozen or so Customs guys there too. They were joking and laughing and blasting the hell out of those rifles. So I went up and asked what the deal was and they said they were "testing some guns that some guy in BC brought in." He was laughing pretty hard when he said that and his buddies were having a tough time keeping a staight face. Then they tased me a few times because I had a my target stapler in my hand and must've looked threatening. Then they went back to shooting.

True story.

BTW, are they here yet?
