U.S vs Canadian scope prices

Yep I chalked up about 5 bills in savings. The US seller was ecstatic for the bussiness. In the past 3 years I have saved over 1500 on zeiss and Kahles optics by shopping around. My only fear is that Prophet is charging so little for the service that maybe they will stop! It is a very fair service and makes me want to find things to buy from them when I can.
This B.S of 'we are a small market" is just that B.S, my dollar spends just the same as anyone else's. The idea that we need an office in Toronto to handle our chinese, korean, mexican, european and US goods for us is antiquated. Last year I paid 450 dollars to a Montreal office #### for a product from a European Company. It was shipped direct to me from, you guessed it, China. # months ago I bought the same piece of kit from tennesse for 189.00 , last week I bought the exact product (minus a logo) from a nice young lady at a factory in China for 80 bucks delivered. 80 bucks instead of 450 bucks for the exact same thing delivered in the same box from the same place........ took me a mnth to get ahold of the montreal #### and another month for him to place an order. China one day turn around.
There is still room for good retailer/wholesalers but the days of both of them taking 100% are going to be gone soon.
I wouldn't worry about Prophet River, Clay is a sharp guy. He keeps his costs in line, probably by bringing in special orders along with his regular orders. Which would be a savings in paperwork, and shipping. Oh ya that is how the big guys do it, buy and ship multiple units, amazing.
The argument that shipping costs are responsible for the extra cost, all I can say is that there is alot more extra shipping costs when people drive down to the US and fill up thier car trunks, then drive home, and still save money. Or when people buy on line from a retailer, and have one unit shipped to their door, whether it was drop shipped from the distibutor, or was pre shipped then re shipped from the retailers inventory.
I agree with almost all of your arguments..... but this one is real bull crap. I work for Canada post. We probably have the highest delivery cost of any Nation on earth. WHY IS THAT YOU SAY??????? Well I'm glad you asked.
We have one of the largest nations by land mass on the planet.
We have the smallest population when compared to land mass on the planet.
We have one of the largest geographic areas that our delivery model has to deliver to on the planet.
As well in Canada Post's circumstances it must do final delivery for all other courier companies that will not do the final delivery because costs are to high.
So Ya. Our shipping costs are higher. But at the same time that doesn't mean we should pay 40% more for the scopes.
Blame politicians like Harper for selling us out to large multi-nationals, charging them next to 0 tax and then giving them billions in Handouts.
Blame politicians like Harper who bailed out Canada's banks to the tune of 100 Billion dollars. 25 Billion in 2008 and 75 Billion in 2009. That's only 100 Billion extra we have to pay off.
Blame Harper for going after its own workers (IE POSTAL(Personal Grudge here)) by legislating lower wage increases that were offered by the corporation and then punished us for being locked out after we made a 440 million dollar profit that went back to Canadians. (as an aside not 2 weeks before the Canada Post BS HARPER gifted Shell Canada 1 Billion dollars to help them with their polution problems)
Blame the population of Alberta for voting in corrupt useless governments like they did this week by re-electing a corrupt party that consistently votes AGAINST the well being of their constituents!
