Nets of any kind are staples for both sides. Our volunteer group just delivered 60 tons of fish net from GB to Ukraine last month.
This^^. KISS principle. I've read battlefield reports from both Ukraine/Israel that some FPV drones are still getting through. IDF Merkava IV tanks headed into Gaza usually have decent, well made, steel cages on top. Will stop drones/RPGs which are the main Hamas weapons. Their Trophy APS system takes care of ATGMs/RPGs/Rockets, etc.. Newest Barak 5 model is apparently able to down drones. All Western tanks are learning from Israel/Ukraine wars. Newest Abrams tanks have Trophy APS. Newest Bradley IFVs now have Israeli Iron Fist system. Future German Leopard A8s will also have Trophy APS. Tanks aren't obsolete. Constant battle of new offensive/defensive counter measures. Drones have changed warfare immensely.
Advances in tech are very fast paced. DEW/new EW weapons will probably render drones obsolete. 10$ a shot DEWS are a lot cheaper than missiles/cannons. Almost ready for the battlefield, all you need is a good source of electricity. I read in recent issue of the War Zone (4-5 2024) that newer Russian EW is rendering expensive US munitions useless/off course. That includes new GLSDB/HIMARS/JDAMs/Excalibur 155mm rds., etc., that rely on GPS for guidance to targets. New Russian EW tech is bypassing sanctions by using cheap RF "Spoof Jammers" to defeat these munitions. Newer US munitions use multi-mode seeker heads, aren't affected by this. Mostly new, long-range munitions the US is reluctant to give to Ukraine/possible loss of tech to Russians. Unlike UK Foreign Sec. Cameron saying it's ok to use long-range Brit. weapons on Russian ground. Putin threatens to launch strikes at UK targets in response. Insane.
F-16s are expected to arrive in Ukraine this year. Will be able to guide JDAM bombs that Russian fighters can't guide.
