Ukrainian Shotgun IPSC Postal Match

If you can ghost load the m4 with any sort of speed, you need to post that stuff up on youtube and take down my 20k+ hits video of me doing it super slow (the only way I know how.)

Why do you need speed to ghost load? You load and make ready before the beeper goes.

I wonder:

Is it kosher to "Ghost Load" in IPSC Shotgun.

I see this as being similar to using .40 mags in a 9mm Glock sort of thing, not that I am particularly against that!

Not all Semi's are able to be Ghost Loaded, so it would seem like an unfair advantage!

I would consult the Oracle myself, but.......

If you're only referring to this match.... you have 8+1 sg and all the stages are under 8 rounds, why would you need to practise your reloads??

With a M4 you can go 5+1+1

Let me break the match for you:

Stage 1: minimum 7 rounds, chamber empty
Stage 2: minimum 8 rounds, unloaded
Stage 3: minimum 8 rounds, unloaded
Stage 4: minimum 8 rounds, loaded

Did you guys noticed those s&b slugs are longer? The 8th dont fit into my Mossberg 8 round tube.

So, Craig, what is your 8 rounds reload par time now?

I cut about 1 1/2" of my spring, there is plenty of room once that is done.

I haven't timed myself for a while, I just practice being smooth while reloading, and not fumbling the rounds.

The last time I timed myself, I was firing 1 round, and reloading 8, and firing another round, in 7.5 seconds. Was shooting at clay targets, 10 yards out, and they were separated by 10 yards or so. Gun started at Port Arms!

Interesting idea about spring... should also make it easier to push the last two rounds in. Though those slugs dont work well in the caddies, meed thinner spacer.

7.5 seconds is a good time. Is it with bommer vest or with shell caddies?

fixed magazine empty

Hi Storm

By that I understood any magazine that is part of the gun { tube under the barrel } , but we had a conversation tonight about this with a friend of mine that is participating the match to and he thinks that also includes empty magazines that can be attached to the gun {Valtro's Shotguns for example } . I just thught this does not seem right , starting unloaded in pistol match means no bullet on the gun but certainly does not mean no bullet on the magazine on your belt .

Starting unloaded “fixed magazines must be empty “
just trying to clarify seam that the wording may have created a bit of confusion .

I hope this clears it up for you:

8.1 Shotgun Ready Conditions

The ready condition for shotguns will normally be as stated below. However, in the event that a competitor fails to load
the chamber when permitted by the written stage briefing, whether inadvertently or intentionally, the Range Officer
must not take any action, as the competitor is always responsible for the handling of the shotgun.

8.1.1 Shotguns:

8.1.1.1 Loaded (Option 1): magazine filled and fitted (if applicable), chamber(s) loaded, hammer and/or
sear cocked and safety catch engaged (if the shotgun is designed to have one).

8.1.1.2 Loaded (Option 2): magazine filled and fitted (if applicable), chamber(s) empty and the action
closed.

8.1.1.3 Unloaded (Option 3): fixed magazine must be empty, detachable magazines removed and
chamber(s) must be empty. The action/bolt may be open or closed.

Fixed meaning those that can't be detached from the gun, such as most of the tube magazines on pump actions.

Detachable boxed mags of course can be loaded and sit on your belt. Also you should know this kind of shotgun belong to the Open division.
