I have the AAC Handi Rifle in 300BLK, I quite like it. Put a Leupold VX 1.25-4x20 Firedot on there, seems to work well together.

If you do go that route, let me know, I've got a line on some very affordable brass.

Or, as I mentioned in another thread there is the possibility of reaming the chamber to .308 Win or maybe even 30-06 or something from that family.

Are you looking for short OAL when ready to use, or something like a takedown for transport or storage?


There are a couple companies that could do up a custom Remington 700 barrel for you.
 
On both of the TC guns you can legally run the pistol barrels so anything from 12" on up and easily adjust the LOP on the wood and non recoil synthetic stocks to whatever you prefer. It can legally be less than 26" if you use a fixed stock and a non-shortened factory barrel.
 
I am not interested in takedown mode,
I want a very short rifle, not only for transport... but also for carrying it around in the woods...

I did not know that the pistol mode is NR in Canada ?
should it be Restricted ?

if really NR, ...then that could be count as a option..
 
Encore is the shortest in length with pistol barrels I Like the 18-20" brl length for handling. Custom orders you can get what u want but pricy. All the way up to 416 right in cals

What about a Ruger M77 compact in 260Remington? 12.5 inch LOP and a 16.5 inch barrel, 35.5 inch length. I came across one a few years ago in wholesale sports and have been kicking myself ever since for not buying it. Not sure if they're still made, but it might be worth a look.

Or maybe a TC contender? Nice and short and a pile of calibers to try out.
