here's the story.
owning a larger amount of Unique I decided to try some pistol loads.
first I put 4.8gr in 9mm under a 124gr fmj
this worked out well, with velocity a bit higher than my usual 4.2gr Titegroup.
then I tried it in 357mag
the manual says 7.2 to 7.8gr under 158gr jacketed bullet. My bullets are more like 160gr so I went for 7.5gr. Wow, the velocity was on par with the heavy loads of 16gr W296 but the primers got flattened and cratered. It's the first time I get overpressure signs on book "safe" loads.
I'll try 7gr next time.
And by the way, at these pressures Unique burns way cleaner than W296.
