First off, I know the purists are going to give me #### for this. Yes, this involves chopping part of the rifle off but this is only an idea (so far).
So here's the idea: a 'Tanker' SVT-40.
How will I do it? I think I have an idea...
I'll say that everything from the receiver back will not get touched.
Strip everything down. Cut back the wood fore end to desired length (while keeping it legal for a NR rifle), leaving the end piece with the metal cap for the sling.
Cut the barrel down relative to the length the fore end was cut. Then machine the end for a clean finish.
re-thread for the flash hider, then reinstall everything as it was supposed to fit together.
Again, this might not be so easy since I haven't actually bought the rifle yet and don't know if it can be done. The plan was to buy one just for this project, so any input is appreciated.
