Hey everyone,

I have a few additions to my collection, and thought it may be cool to share pictures and maybe a few stories to go with them. Starting with this Universal gold plated .30 M1 carbine. Have a look, thanks.

$10 hmm..... tempting, even though i didn't pay anything for it. Got it from my fathers estate. He bought it new in 1976, paid $250 for it by mail-order from S.I.R.

Congrats..good to see it stayed in the family..$250 was a lot of money back then..
Did you know your father even had it??

Early Universal Carbines were USGI clones made up primarily of USGI parts. Late ones like this one used a bunch of proprietary parts and are not known to be reliable or durable.

Was that separate-from or related-to the "spring issues" and "magazine issues"?.... :yingyang:

The only 2 I've handled have been an Iver Johnson (sp?) and a National Postal, so limited first-hand experience here...
