Unoccupied blinds and tree stands?

Waterfowling on public land is first one there. Yea it’s could suck as you put all the work into “your” blind, but it’s public it’s not really yours. That being said I am not a #### about it and have shared and talked to others in thoes spots no issues. I have been the builder and the borrower of “owner blinds” on public land. I think it is fair to say if you don’t leave a mess or be a jerk it’s not a problem. I do agree with the unwritten edicate of opener day is the builders day in the spot, but after it’s first comer get it. That being said don’t be a #### either and set up 50m away from them...

Deers stands are another story I would not touch some one else’s stand. Would still hunt near though if it’s a good spot and there is no one in that stand.

I pack a primos up and down blind, and while I won't sit in an existing structure, I have no qualms with setting up right there.
I've found a huge upsurge in d-bags around my camp the last few years. Guys who drive onto private land and use a private landing for water access, then try and run you off of spots on both the private and neighbouring crown lands.
They claim it's "their spot", not realizing that these are my father in laws old blinds or stands which have been there since the 70s and 80s.
They are usually the same guys who go ripping down the river past all of the docks and camps, throwing 2 ft wake and bouncing boats and docks all over. My camp is the last one on a bend, and on more than one occasion myself or someone else has been canoeing or fishing or swimming at the end of the dock and almost been hit.
It's gotten to the point where I'm going to start dropping trees and buoys into the river and force then to slow down.

If somebody wants to use my stand on crown land then have at it. Don't wreck it, don't steal it, and don't leave garbage.

i kinda feel this way too. I know two guys from here that know the area where my stand is and I gave them a heads up. Next year i'll show them where the essential parts are so they can assemble it when i'm not there. I'm sure over next couple years I'll bump into the handfull or less other guys that frequent that area and no doubt before long i can just leave it assembled for us all to use. I think leaving a treestand in the bush is a bit of a safety concern so ours is just hanging by a chain and 2 cable locks and no way anyone could use it, let alone get it down from the tree 20 sum feet up.

There is another stand in the area, well a platform really. It's constructed of 2x4 and plywood framed up about 30 plus feet off the ground and spiked into two big trees. Huge spikes were used, limbs removed and thier way up in foot long 1/2inch thick spikes nailed into the tree every foot or so at apposing steps..... lots of spikes sticking outta that tree.
This kinda stuff I totally disagree with on crown land and find it an eyesore and totally unnecessary structure. I got no issue with this kind of thing on private land, would do it myself in fact. But on crown land , these things are cheap enough and easy enough to set up that fuggering around with major wood and spike construction in an otherwise relatively pristine environement is just dumbfuggery.

there was a couple of dicks that set up a few stands, pallets and lumber, in an area that I hunted for years and then tried to claim the area. told me it was their area because they had stands set up and I was unwelcome.

I made it my mission to take a big dump in every one of their stands, they moved on, they didn't even clean up their stands.

if its on public land and its something built to be permanent then its for public use. If they would of been reasonable, and used normal tree stands then no problems.

interesting thread guys,
seeing as blinds are uncommon down here, especially In the bush for deer, I recently made one, in a popular place to hunt not far out of town, easy for Me.. Easy for them LOL
but however its a Winter thing when this place is busy, I'm picking the summer months to so some blind hunting..

although its basic , id expect too see people have been near and or used it in future, but I made it knowin this an have no problem with it, I really doubt I would ever pop in too see someone in it, I guess the vehicle in the car park would be the give away :D
