Unrestricted going restricted

No but they know where every vehicle is in case they want to confiscate them. Should you not be worried? What if the Green party gets a majority and wants to confiscate all SUVs and pick-ups? Many on this site would be f**ked. Lest get a bill started called F-350 to cancel SUV and Pick-up registration...come on...lets go there is not a moment to wait :D

Well I'd be safe from vehicle confiscation in that case lol

however I was more referring to the insanity of an ATT. Though registration also is a pointless blithering disaster of a mess and then some.

Yeah, the ATT is really a mindless procedure. You know, I would have no problem with registration and licensing if we had rights similar to US 2nd amendment.

Are you talking about this guy?

"This year will go down in history. For the first time, a civilized nation has full gun registration!
Our streets will be safer, our police more efficient and the world will follow our lead into the future!"

Was this Billy Blair??? Oh no wait it was one of those Nazi type dudes who didn't mind trying to axe off an entire group of people!

Remember always that the Nazis were legally elected and all their atrocities were backed by law.

The Kool-Aid is just fine thanks. How is your Pilsner or whatever cheap crappy beer it is that you are consuming?

Are you really comparing Canada's (1979 - 2010) government gun control program to Nazi Germany? Seems a little over the top. And lets see its been thirty years and most people still have most of their firearms and the number of confiscations in relation to the number of firearms is, my guess, less than 1/10th of one percent. Looks like they are really working hard on that confiscation issue. At this rate they will have them all in 3000 years.

By the way it was the Weimar Republic in the 20s and Nazi Germany officially started in 1933. Regardless, the comparison is offensive if not ridiculous.

I disagree on the safety issue. I have been to a lot of ranges over the last 35 years of shooting (which is how old you are) and the difference from then to now is significant. For god sakes man we have range flags now. But that is just my opinion.

Somebody please post the link which shows the sections for both the United States and Canadian gun control acts that are copied directly from the Nazi literature.

Safety was on the rise long before all this bull#### started.

As for the flags... I have no idea how that makes things better.

Take a red one. You are really getting wound up over this. Just because US and Canadian gun control acts may have some similar text does not immediately imply a nefarious outcome.

Next thing you will be refering to the Illuminati, the Freemasons, or the Skull and Bones as being behind our gun laws so they can establish a new world order on the backs of unarmed and enslaved global citizenry. Getting a little ccrrraaaazzzzyyyyy in here.:onCrack:cou:

The OP's question sounds like "What is the most painless way to surrender?".

Get involved and FIGHT!!

You know I have to listen to comments from the anti's that are based on nothing more then emotions and lies. Now I have it comming from someone in my own ranks. What facts do you have that "im going to surrender?? Go f@ck yourself and your divisive comments. You have no idea on the number or orgs I belong to, how many letters Ive written today but you feel complelled to write your B.S drivel. All comments like your do is divide our community...so keep them to yourself trolll.

Don't think he is a troll. But you knew the answer when you asked your question. If a gun you own changes class and you don't have that class, they will be almost immediately be coming to get it and charge you for being in possession of it. You will not be grand fathered. If there is a way to get the license for the class, you will have to transfer you gun to someone with the proper license right away and then get the license yourself. If there is no way to get the class, your gun is gone either given to another shooter for practically nothing so you don't get caught with it and loose everything else you have or you give it to the government for free. Their job is not to make it easier for you or to help you keep your gun, their job is to take your gun from you for no money or make it as hard as possible for you to legally keep it.

OP - there would likey be a period granted to write your test.....an attempt to appease us at best....but I think likely.

As for Lic & Reg....registration is useless...period.

I personally believe that no one can ever have enough training....be it in school, trades, or firearms, there is always learning to be had.....I also think if we had more training available it may go a long way to some goals of CCW, wilderness permits, etc.

After working with a Texan, who had a CCW permit, carrying a Glock 23, for 3 years, and then he asked ME how to field strip it after handing it a roughneck LOADED!!!

Yeah......safety first.

Don't think he is a troll. But you knew the answer when you asked your question. .

Another mind reader....I posted the question because I don't know what could happen but I guess its a bit to much for some and some feel obligated to throw out baseless accusations and divide our community. We are our own worst enemies.

The only thing missing from this example is the public will to do it. There is public will to confiscate firearms.

When people finally manage to pull their heads out of their ass, and see that confiscating firearms from taxpaying citizens, firearms that they paid good money for, is as ludicrous as your example above, then we'll finally be getting somewhere. Until then, people don't care how much you've spent; since it's still an evil baby-killing device, it should thus, in their mind, be taken away. The 'reduced risk' is worth far more than your money.

Can we all refrain from the "baby-killing" epithet. I think it has been worn out and it is really offensive no matter how you use it. If there was a large enough confiscation without compensation it would be a major class action law suit. I won't go into it any further.

As for public will to confiscate every firearm in Canada I think that is a false construct. In 1979 everyone was saying that and 31 years later we still have our firearms in the majority. Most governments know that it would be political suicide to stand on a platform of total confiscation.

On the subject of non-restricted to restricted it seems there is a lot of fear in our community that if the long-gun registry is ended that this will happen. Would it not take an OIC? And would the CPC do this? I don't think so. And the RCMP just can't all of a sudden reclassify everything and if they did they would face a massive legal battle and class action suit.

As for the OP he had a question and wanted to have an answer. So now he knows. Oh and as for your quote about a free society there is no such thing. Just varying degrees of indentured servitude. Don't pay your income taxes and see how free the society is. ;)

Scott_R, don't take it so personally. This site is famous for people talking first and thinking later. If I was an anti subscribed to this site I would think with so much in fighting and disrespectful comments that Canada would be firearm free very shortly.

Remember "#### rolls downhill so its best to have sloped shoulders" :D

That's the least of your(our) problems...........Let's hope the liberals and possibly the NDP don't come into power again.....We may lose a lot more.

The CDN gov allows a IWI Tavor as a non-restricted, but doesn't allow a M&P .22 calibre rifle that looks like an AR......
What's up with that?

Kim Campbell and Allen Rock back in the picture......?

Let's hope not....Politicians that don't know enough about legally owned, working guns, the guns that some of us rely on for everyday use could be BANNED!

Vote PC. Pretty simple math huh?

Sorry officer.. it is not here.. I loaned it to a friend I met at my local range. Is I did make sure he had a PAL/RPAL in his possession first of course. Whats his address? I don't know.. I see him at the club all the time.

"That's foolish and we don't believe you." says the officer.

I'm sorry you feel that way.. but I'm a trusting type of guy.. I don't mind loaning out a gun to a fellow shooter. We have to be friendly and help out others with our hobby after all.

Now unless you have a warrant (which you cannot have without just cause and to which I can protest before it is issued) you'll excuse me I have something actually important to do.. and I do believe you do as well... like dealing with actual criminals.. it is your job after all for which I am paying.

People should read this....its good advice

Just like many of us have said here on this site "we are our own worst enemies". There was no need for people to accuse you of anything.

If you are looking for simple and reasonable solution get yourself RPAL and prevent potential problems from occuring.

Give the man a cigar!!! The best advice I have seen in this post. Plus it will encourage you to buy some restricted guns, the more the merrier.
