Upcoming Carbine Courses in Alberta

What film or TV production allows the security guard to act as well as set off pyro? Why does this all sound improbable? You weren't involved in the Alberta Infantry Society were you? That lime green M14 still gives me nightmares .....

Obviously Suptutin needs to read the post he commented on more clearly... the conjunction "and" does not mean "at the same time" but that Adler's chief instructor has done various roles w/in the movie industry.

Precision... it's not just a firearms concept.

My Opinion on Adler Tactical Solutions

Since there is a great deal of hesitant, cautious mumbling (much of which is understandable to a relative unknown company) & some not-so-subtle shooting off of internet mouths that were better left closed by those who have nothing better to do, I feel justified in making a comment on Adler Tactical Solutions.

Over the past 2 years I have taken 3 full weekend courses covering tactical pistol/rifle skills from 'Max.' As well, I have enjoyed his instruction & participation at several other less formal firearms events.
His professionalism, skill at arms, and instructional ability are superb and very much worth the money one would spend to take one of his courses.

I base my opinion on my lifetime of experience as a high school teacher, a martial artist who has run a dojo for 25+ years, an outdoor survival instructor of 20+ years, and an attendee at over one hundred seminars on a great variety of topics. Thus, I feel somewhat qualified to speak to the quality of instruction you will get from Max's seminars.

I am aware of the reasons why there has been a bit of mystery re: the details of the chief instructor and they are understandable in the big picture as Max gets this rare, but much-needed, Canadian-based firearms venture off the ground. Rest assured, there is nothing under-handed or suspect about the gentlemen running these programs, only skill, talent, and a desire to make everyone a much better tactical shooter.

I'm sure you can take a course that might cover most of the same material from some American cowboys that run up here once in awhile to take some Canadian money home... but I'll bet you'd be paying a great deal more than Adler charges & not getting anything better. Take one of Adler's courses if you can... I doubt you'll be disappointed or feel you didn't get your full money's worth & more.

And besides... I'm more than willing to support a local, CANADIAN instructor that's trying to establish a market for CANADIAN TACTICAL FIREARMS TRAINING... what a thought! Won't that make the anti-gun crowd confused when we do this stuff just because it's so damn much fun?

CGN: We want training in Canada!!!

Adler: We have training courses.

CGN: Who do you think you are to come here and offer training to US? We are CGN, we are the masters of our mother's basement!

I met Max on a course with a well known US instructor that Max was hired to video document. Knowing Max's experience in Executive Protection and training history, I believe he will be offering a product that anyone attending will be pleased with. This is not the first course Adler has offered, it is just the first time they have advertised on CGN.

I understand CGN member's frustration with not knowing a full detailed background of the instructor. However, it is not reasonable to expect someone that is still involved with the EP industry and is offering courses as a sideline to post their full name and current employ on a public forum.

If I were in the country, I'd probably stop by to participate. I don't think anyone will be disappointed with the instruction offered, especially at such low prices.

I own my own basement thank you very much!

I'll be doing my first firearms training this year and am looking forward to hopefully taking some training every year. Having a company in Alberta is a great way to ensure I can persue my interest in the years to come. Hope to see you guys doing some courses up in the Peace Country.

There you go, everyone, that's all the vetting you'll ever need.

I also highlighted the key sentence in that post for some of you slower members to re-read and understand the situation.

Exactly.

Couldn't have said it better myself.... :slap:

What ever you guys do, if you find yourself away at a course billeted with my friend Hawkmoon................ pull those covers up tight because he likes to sleep walk and is even more fond of spooning :p

There are alot of good courses that are offered in Canada. You just have to ask around and even more importantly be willing to support the events. These guys need to fill up classes so they can make some money as they are not charities. Considering the initial cost of getting into fire arms ownership, im always shocked at how little most spend on training and ammo.

And with a little internet digging you can find out some basic background, even if you don't know the real names. ;)
Sounds like a great training opportunity for a fair price.
Looking into making time for the carbine course.

Well, I took the Adlers basic carbine course this weekend and can honestly say it was money WELL spent! After introductions were made, safety and expectations were covered thoroughly. We ran through weapons familiarization, I learned a few things here and I have had an AR15 since the 1980's. There were 3 different types of rifles being run and as they were all new or new to us they all had issues, sights and slings, which were sorted out competently early the first day. We spent 10 hours the first day learning how to shoot, clear and communicate on the firing line. I can say as a long time Ar15 owner I knew how to diagnose my jams and malfunctions before but this weekend I learned how to do it in 10 seconds ! There is a strong focus on group information followed by intense individual supervision through the drills and safety, safety, safety. I left the first day having improved my groups and running the clearing drills in my sleep. Day two started with a refresh of the day before and then on to some very difficult (for me) drills that Max demonstrated to us from personal experience. I have to say I ran a lot of drills that were awkward to me but were absolutely designed to shave seconds off my target acquisition and keep me safe. The amount of new information flowing into my old brain was daunting but if I had questions it was all explained again and we ran through the drills under supervision until the concepts were understood. I had a great time, the level of patience and professionalism these guys displayed was impressive, there was no “I was there, this is the ONLY way” sort of thing. These fellows are teachers and I can honestly say I came away with a greatly expanded set of skills. Anyone who is considering a course of this type, consider these guys, it was a great weekend. Oh and my shoulder is sore from the trigger time and my whole body is sore from the workout but in a good way!

As far as course locations go, the range that we have been using is not able to accommodate us as often as we would like so we are assessing other ranges in Southern Alberta and will have range info and locations for future courses available early next week.

Thanks for the AAR. Appreciate the info and appraisal.. Won't be able to train with these guys this year as some one else has taken up all my time ... cough.... (Tritium).... cough... but will definitely keep track if they offer any here in Ont or out west next year.

Now Charles .. you know it was a dark and scary night... I mean there were bears and everything...LOL

Yeah I agree.. there's no excuse for not training now especially with more courses being offered by good trainers and ammo and cz rifles so cheap. Take advantage of it guys!! Those cz's run like a champ!!

I was browsing through the site and noticed that they offered pistol courses as well as carbine. My question would be how much experience is recommended before taking any of the beginners courses? I'm fairly familiar with my 1911 and AR but haven't done much besides the usual range shooting. I just don't want to enter a course and hold people back or find that I'm way out of my element.
