**UPDATE** for CZ Bren 2 MS Barrel Components only at Dlask Arms Corp.

It is 18mm fyi

If anyone is wondering

####, mine is a 9" 7.62x39; I bought it in Canada, but no idea where it was sourced from.... based on the "Canadian delivered 7.62×39 rifles = 16mm barrel journal" on the Dlask site I ordered the 16"

I have no tools to measure mine to confirm... gonna have to buy some calipers I guess

In a pinch, I'd think holding a tape up to it would shed some light? 2mm difference should be easy to determine, no?

Tape wasn't clear enough to tell for sure, but I snugged a crescent wrench down right where the gas port is and measured the wrench. Mine appears to be just over 17mm, as close as I can measure based on that... so I guess it's 18mm, not 16. Guess I'll email Dlask tomorrow and beg them to switch my order from 16mm to 18mm

A ruler would do as it is a 2mm difference which is easy to see.

I confirmed mine after the ruler with calipers.

I measured the factory barrel

I bought my 7.62 Bren with 14” barrel from Irunguns which then converted to NR by you Leigh. I guess I should be ordering the 18mm version then?

If I want you to install it, I just need to ship the 14” OEM barrel and Dlask’s NR barrel with its transunion and gas block only to you? Or the whole gun? Will you install the OEM barrel with the OEM transunion and gas block, and your NR barrel with Dlask’s transunion and gas block?

And since your NR barrel already installed with a transunion and gas block, I can just easily swap from NR to R just by swapping the barrel/transunion/gas block set without any other modification?

If you have the OEM 14" barrel, you need to measure your gas block journal (the smooth part of the barrel with the gas port drilled through it) to confirm if it is 16 or 18mm diameter.
Then, you purchase the appropriate size+installation on Dlask's website, and wait for them to contact you when the parts are ready.
At that point, you would need to ship them your OEM barrel. Not the 18.6" barrel, not the firearm, JUST the 14" barrel. They will install/headspace the trunnion, install the gas block, and ship it back to you.

Now both of your barrels will have a gas block, and a trunnion. Swapping between them would require you to re-use or source elsewhere; Gas regulator, piston, piston head, piston spring, gas regulator latch, gas regulator latch pin, gas regulator latch spring.

All we need to make these work is the barrel you want the new parts installed on. Since the factory barrel is already drilled for the gas port etc. and (hopefully) worked direct from CZUB there is no more we need to do. You get the barrel back with a new gas block and trunnion and it should be a drop-onn affair.

Looking to make more parts for this platform as well, time and manpower is the issue.

Shoot, if you would have worded it like this and with Evonorths explanation above, I would have selected to have the parts installed by you rather than just buy the parts. I was under the impression that, since I didnt have a spare set of other parts (piston, gas regulator, etc..) that you wouldnt be able to install the trunnion and gas block.

??

Installing the trunnion and gas block are technical tasks. Most folk cannot do it properly since they do not have access to a milling machine and hydraulic press nor do they have the shop experience to get things correctly lined up, drilled, pinned and functioning.

We ALWAYS suggest that we do the work or at the very least you contact a machinist or QUALIFIED gunsmith to do work like this. It is absolutely not a DIY job unless you are a Red Seal Tradie.

So we can send extra accessories with the barrel and you can install for a drop in? Gas regulator, piston, op rod, springs etc.

Those parts are not gunsmith-required install for the Bren. It's stuff you can easily take out yourself, and should be anyways for deep cleaning. So it's basically a waste of shop time to have someone at dlask installing them.

Thanks evo for the response. Was looking at dlask site and they would add any after market accessories for their bren conversions. Albeit this is a bit different and I was merely wondering. Exciting times though! Thanks again for the pre order dlask.

The only real tool you'll probably need is a small hammer&punch for the gas regulator latch roll pin.

When you said “hopefully” and “drop-on affair”, do you mean you are not sure if they will work flawlessly and reliably? Or do I need to buy extra parts to ensure they work 100% all the time?

I recently purchased an HBI CZ Bren 2 Optimized Gas Regulator Assembly and a CZ Bren 2 handguard kit, that contains the operating rod subassembly. I haven’t been able to put it in my current 18.6” barrel to test it yet. I’m still waiting for my barrel that’s at another gun store, just curious if these parts will complete a new drop in barrel.

You'd still need the gas regulator latch, and the associated spring and roll pin to fit it to the gas block.

Thanks…I guess I’m a few small steps closer. So I have the parts to insert into the gas block and trunnion (piston rod, gas tube front, piston front etc) but I don’t have the parts to hold/retain them in at the gas block end?

Yeah pretty much. It's the little parts that retain the gas regulator, as well as providing detent between gas settings.

They can be swapped from the other assembly, but would probably require a small hammer/punch.
