this is true... the RCMP determined the Akdal was an AR variant with no AR parts so...

Agreed. No sense risking it. Speaking for only myself, I couldn't give a #### less if it accepted AR parts. I'm just pleased the Blue Line guys have the fortitude to continually go through this process. It's got to be stressful. I hope things go well and the market rewards them suitably.

:bump:Hey Blue Line. Forget about this rifle. How much for a T-72 M tank, as it is on your military/police page file? It should be non-restricted based on the barrel length, so I'd take it for deer and moose.:bump:

LIf this gun has decent quality, shoots 2 moa or better, and has a fast enough barrel twist rate, to shoot heavier bullets, then this gun will be a hot seller, especially at $1200. It will be, without a doubt, just as popular as a CZ858 or Norinco M14.

If it comes with a 1:7 or 1:8 rate, like most ARs, then that would be a major factor in this guns success IMHO. If the barrel is 1:9 or slower, and only suitable for shooting light varmint ammunition only, then that would be a bummer. I get the feeling that the guys making this gun, know what they are doing though, and are tuned in to the needs of Canadian shooters, who are looking for a decent priced .223 black rifle, that performs similar to a AR. I would put money on this gun having a 1:8 rot or faster, so it performs similar to a typical AR, to keep us happy, and make this gun sell like hot cakes.

Difficult to predict the accuracy, since its a stamped gun, and not machined to tight tolerances, but I hope it will shoot 1.5 MOA with optic & quality ammo. You can't expect it to be as accurate as a AR, but I hope its about as accurate as a CZ858...and not a SKS...Anything worst than 2 MOA, and it will not sell too good. For this gun to be popular, it will need to be a improvement over a .223 VZ58, and not just a cool looking AR type gun.

Most AR shooters are shooting bulk cheap ammo. 50-55 gr pills.

1:9 twist is what that needs.

1;8 or 1:7 twist is for heavier bullets. 1:8 will stabilize 70-75 gr pills any where any time. 1:7 twist will stabilize 90 gr pills......

Now for light varmint stuff you could go all of the way to a 1:12 twist (that is what stoners first AR in .223 was) but if was discovered that a twist that slow wouldn't stabilize 50 gr pills in all temperature and humidity ranges.

That is all I have time for, I could go on and on and on....

It is a single shot so it should be all good to go! :p just gotta get all of the instructions translated into english!

1:7 rifling will work just fine with 55 grain FMJ and even most lighter bullets. I have shot Sierra 40 grain HPs out of my 1:7 barreled AR with no issue. The ability to use any bullet weight with no downside makes 1:7 a better choice.

1:12 will stabilize 55 grain and lighter projectiles. 1:14 rifling is marginally stable with 55 grain bullets and is normally only encountered in very early Colt Model 601s, which predate adoption of the AR-15 as the M16, and a small number of SP1s.

No bolt open on an empty mag means no-go for me...
I think every major use semi-auto firearm since the 1960's realized that this saftey feature's benifit and nows days is a must in my books.

Bolt Open on an empty mag, chrome lined barrel & ability to shoot with stock folded would be good design decisions before production begins.

Interested. The market is still looking for it's "sweetheart" rifle.

If the XCR, swiss arms, ACR etc were in this price range, we would have it.

If the CSA 223 was more optics-friendly (proper scope rail), we might have it, especially with a good AR mag adapter.

If the mini-14 had more "black" ergonomics and AR mags, and if it didn't have a bad reputation for accuracy, we'd have it.

The Kel-Tec seemed promising, but spotty quality issues/accuracy seemed to be a let down.

So many options, none quite hit the mark. We are hopeful on this one! I would say 1-7 twist would be a good choice, but the "intangibles" of reliability, durability and accuracy will be the absolute make or break. If it'll run and shoot, it'll sell.

Is that handguard free floating aside from the gas tube? Many people have asked with no answer, but that would go a long way for performance.

Hi All,
Please keep in mind that the rifle in all of the pictures is not the Canadian version of the rifle. We are listening to what people are saying and will be taking these comments in to consideration when a final product is being developed. There is a cost involved in any changes that are to be made and we are trying to bring this rifle to market within a certain budget, this means that some things may be left off for future development. I will keep everyone posted as to our progress on this project, we have a long road ahead of us but we are hopeful that it will be a successful one.

Best regards,
Ryan Patterson
Blue Line Team

I think somebody in here already mentioned it but if this came with the ACR stock, that would be the bees knees.

Don't forget that VZ58's have other shortcomings. Lack of bolt hold open device, safety should be on the left side like an AR, and the bolt handle is on the left side.

My vz has a last round hold.... I can never understand why the handle is on the other side, just doesn't make sense to me
