Update On Ontario Restricted Transfer Times

The F do you know. Why did it take two months before the ban announcement to get a transfer???? How many people called in for batch requests then? They have been and continue to be the laziest and slowest CFO in Canada.

People were still calling in everyday checking on PAL/RPAL applications cause they were already back logged on that. This made things way worse. But they are clearly not lazy and it's rude af for you to say ESPECIALLY since they clearly are working all weekend.

I'm sure time and half and perhaps double time on Sundays had nothing to do with it, they came in out of the goodness of their hearts

I can guarantee overtime and weekend pay to processes authorizations was not even authorized and in the budget unit this ####storm hit and the users here started emailing their MPPs and the ombudsmen, that made a huge impact for sure. I am not sure why some people here think government entities can easily shift to meet market demands right away and without us pushing them, the CFO at TACCOM made it super clear that they were completely blindsided by c21 and were not staffed to meet the demand, but they just now hired more people, and they did not do it because they wanted to pay more overtime. Shout out to everyone who actually took the time to contact people and get the push needed to get these done faster.

If only people would stop calling in to try and jump the queue, ask for a batch transfer, or request an update on their transfer status, maybe they’d be able to make similar progress every day. It’s the stupid and selfish people that contribute to the slow processing times.

Do you work there? I seriously doubt it.

But sure. Let's all stop pressuring them to perform like other CFOs. Then they can stop approving overtime and ride this out another 2 years of inept employment.

Pestering the CFO staff with phone calls isn't going to make then any faster. Bringing the situation to the attention of the politicians however seems to be making some progress.

They specifically said at TACCOM that getting all the calls made them slower. They had 3 officers working on transfer, of which 2 are dedicated solely to doing them and 1 had to answers calls while doing Transfers. Doesnt take much to figure out that less calls = more work done.

And the pressure doesn't come from calls, it comes from us contacting their superiors and people responsible for them like MPPs and the omsbudmen.

Person to person transfers require calls or emails or faxes-then they also require that same staff member to make 2 additional calls to confirm the transfer.
While most of the transfers are store to private, calls must still be performed.

And that's exactly why people calling just to ask how long left until they get their transfer done, or just try to jump queue makes it take much much longer....

Don’t know where you got that but in the numerous transfer’s they’ve handled for me over the years either store to private or private to private, there’s never been a phone call, fax or email required to complete the transfer from the Ontario CFO’s office.

I don’t call for an ATT either, just send them an email request with all the info that they require and always get an ATT via email within a few hours. Now, I don’t even have to bother them for that as I can get it from the RCMP portal. Haven’t tried that yet though…

Yea no need for CFO phone call, only calls needed are to CFP to initiate, different people. No real reason to call CFO about transfers at all I expect, unless for things like a transfer being rejected or setting up a new gun range or something haha.

Now it seems to me they get way more transfers done on the weekend on OT compared to weekday, just look at all the transfers flowing in. Either that is because they don't have to deal with phone calls on weekend, or maybe because they wanted to show that OT is effective and hope they get more of it!

At TACCOM they said they only get 2 weekends of OT and thats it. This past weekend was the 2nd one. Probably no more after.
