Update On Ontario Restricted Transfer Times

I spoke with the Ombudsmen handling my case and they said they’ve been pressuring them extra hard since the new year. They can’t force them to do anything but more pressure seems to have accelerated their speed.

Sent an ATT request to the Ontario CFO this morning and got it in 24 minutes flat. That's the fastest for me but it's almost always the same day.

So I am finished with my transfers. For the most part they all went relatively smooth, but the 2 that did not were the result of a mistake coming out of the CFO office and needed a phone call to clear up.

Number 1 was a transfer from Prophet. I saw the registration in my file on an ATT request process but had never got the notice of transfer. I sent an email to ask prophet if they had their notice but at that time they were very busy and did not respond right away. Lesson #1 was i should have phoned them rather than relying on email. In the end I had to call the CFO and they saw that the email was sent to the registry but the copy had not been sent to the buyer/seller. I am not sure how long that would have taken without the phone call.

Number 2 was this week. I had my last transfer come through on Saturday for a purchase from Arms East. I sent Arms East a copy of the notification on the weekend. I assumed they did not work the weekend and had a holiday in NFLD like the rest of the country on Monday (they dont). By Tuesday i did not see any action on this so on Wednesday i decided to make a phone call. Was told they were busy had a lot of transfers come through on the weekend and i would get a notice soon.

Well it ended up that mine and 5 other notices from the Ontario CFO came in the same email with the subject line "Licence Renewal" so they were not looked at. I suppose my phone call got them curious and when they searched through they found the transfers and have now shipped them.

So the lesson is, that if things seem to be running out of sync it does not hurt to get on the phone and ask. These businesses are getting hundreds of emails a day so yours may get lost in the maze.

My final transfer just came through. Ontario B2P applied Sep 15 approved Feb 24 #60328xx.
Annoying thing is, the business applied on Jun 9 but I later discovered they had the gun described incorrectly.
The CFC told them it was easiest to cancel the original transfer, update the details then file a new transfer request.
This process has taught me patience and contempt for our Liberal Government.
 
Initiated September 13 processed today, February 24 ref number 60323XX B to P. Last one for me unless a new Guv comes in and reverts back to pre Lib laws regarding purchases. Kind of a weird feeling as I have been here checking several times daily especially as the expected date got closer, will probably feel the urge to keep checking for a few days. Chart was right on the mark for the transfer date, a big thank you too all who kept the chart updated, see you at the range.
