Update On Ontario Restricted Transfer Times

hi guys and gals am from Quebec and i sold a few restricted to peoples in Ontario the transfers time is ridiculous, we in Quebec had a hard time also for a period where the transfer time was crazy long we are talking 2 or 3 months, lots of peoples made official complaints to the ambushman saying the time was too long and am not sure if the complaints worked but right now a restricted transfer take less then 10 days, my last one took 4 days, just saying you guys should look into this.

You honestly think this is a priority for the provincial or federal governments right now
Me I am thankful they are open at all and not totally shut down
Have you even visited a call center to see now close normally they work together. I know where my SIL works the normal 15 in a pod side by side is now only allowed 5 and the rest are at home not working
The firearms center is set up no different. Take care of their employees first nothing else should be the no. 1 priority and for this I agree
What needs to change is us and our thinking during this time
Cheers

So you’re SIL works at a call centre and you relate that to the CFC? f:P:2:

The excessive times for transfers of restricteds need NOT be so long. If a person already has restricteds, why isn't there an automatic approval if there is no flag in the file (like threats, divorce, court prohibition..... ). What nefarious situation does the CFO think will occur if not already done with owner's current firearms?
Seems like a no-brainer to me. It seems there is a lot of arbitrary delay in some provinces. NB has been very quick and service is good. A transfer made from NB to Ontario (by me) 2 days ago will take 6 weeks to approve, says the new Ontario owner. Something not right about that! Hopefully there will be an outbreak of common sense someday.
All this could be done online. The software could approve or deny accordingly, send out email notices to the seller and buyer, for shipping or face to face transfer of the firearm. Should take about a minute or 2 if no flags!

Private Ontario to Ontario April 29th-May 31st

I did call the CFP yesterday prior to the announcement of the handgun freeze... not sure if it had helped...
The thought of the transfer getting cancelled did cross my mind after the announcement of handgun freeze yesterday...

Just got a hold of the ON CFO and was told that they are working on business transfers from May 7th. My transfer was initiated on May 11th and they said it's still a few weeks before they process it... They seem to be stretched extremely thin, going to remain positive and patient!
