Update On Ontario Restricted Transfer Times

Lets talk theoretical here.

It directly links what is a semi anonymous user profile to two known people the buyer and the seller.

Say you've recently posted photos of something like a semi-auto non restricted firearm in your possession.

Say something like C-21 with the G amendment passes and it gets banned.

Say you attempt passive non-compliance try to deny that you have any now banned firearms.

How much information have you posted here that could incriminate you.

If you give a full transfer that gives an investigator 2 doors to knock on. Leave out one number its 20, two 200, three 2000. Investigators will always start with low hanging fruit.

This is also only one example what could happen with that much information. Now just think about with the looser laws around red flagging coming in C21. I'd be careful posting anything these days.
Lol why be paranoid when people really are after you? Ha ha

I don't know why we are covering up any numbers. Not as if anyone can do something with a reference number once it's been approved.

A full number allows the horse cops to put a real name to a user name.

Having said that, even the people giving out 4 numbers only, if they have 3 or more transfers it's probably enough to identify them.

I don't recall putting my CGN username on my PAL application, maybe you volunteered that info...
But you did put a phone number or cellular number on your PAL application. And very likely an email address on your file. No two emails are identical (legally). No two phone numbers are identical(legally). Your email and phone number are connected to you by your file. See where I'm going with this. Just saying. Maybe I'm wrong. Who knows anymore.

60004xx just approved. Business to Onatrio. Initiated Aug 16. Things are pickup up again. Also, a big thank you to the guys for keeping up the chart.

1. Average the number of days it took for each P2P transfer over the last 7 days.
2. Count out that number of days from the day your transfer was initiated.

You don’t need to reference any other spreadsheets or worry about the transfer numbers.
You’ll have a more accurate real time guesstimate.

Thank you to JSE. That is a simpler way to estimate the approval date of your P2P transfer. I have modified my Excel spreadsheet to give the "Median number of days to approve" a P2P transfer for each week. I don't have a rolling seven days working yet so I am not quite ready to share it.

Last week there were 15 P2P transfers reported on CGN with the median number of days to approve being 167. So to estimate your approval date for a P2P add 167 days to your transfer initiation date.

If you had told me at the end of august when I bought one of my last handguns that I’d be waiting till the end of February for the transfer to go through I would have laughed at the ludicrousness of that proposition
