Ok, so I got to try the Steve's sights tonight on my 44 mag Ranch Hand.
Started out with the rear sight set to the lowest on the slide adjuster and left the set screw alone, and also the tall front sight. I put on the full stock and was actually able to hit what I was aiming at! Same thing with the short stock, definately a major improvement over the stock sights.
It's nice having a short and long stock, it's like having two different guns!
I would recommend the Steve's sights, only cost 70 bucks shipped.:)

Which boyd stock did you order, and how did it fit?

When you ordered the sights, did you have to specify a tall sight? I can't see a tall sight on their website

Was shooting 10 and 25 yards. I haven't measured the height difference of the front sights yet but it is taller. All of the front sights from Steve's are taller than stock.
The stock is a winchester 92 walnut semi-inlet stock from Boyd's. Just needed some fitting and finish.

Great to hear!

That's great news about the sights. I have the two Steve's sights ... low rear and fiber-optic front ... but they haven't been installed yet. (I'm having a real gunsmith do it ... I fear that I might mess it up.)

I also have a Skinner's Sights rear peepsight as a second option.

Thanks very much for sharing the good news :)

Here's hoping that the rest of us can replicate your results!

You wrote that you were "actually able to hit what I was aiming at" at ranges of 10 and 25 yards. Could you please be a bit more specific? For all we know, you could have been aiming at an old Pontiac junker destined for the crusher. :)

Ha ha, no old Pontiacs! I was able to hit the 4 in circle on the target no problem and had some really nice groups! Of course it was easier with the full stock.
The stock cost me 92 bucks shipped.

Merci!

The ability to put shots into a 4" circle between 10 and 25 metres is exactly what I was hoping for ... good news is confirmed. Incidentally, may I ask if you got the fiber-optic front sight, or brass bead, or an ivory bead?

Thanks!

Just picked up my RH in 44 mag. Found mine locally. Yahoo! The guns a hoot! Exactly what I was hoping for. Fit and finish is a little rough but the action is smooth. Now I need to find a good lockable case and scabbard. I'll hit the range on Friday and follow up with a report. I can't believe the nay sayers about how useless this gun is, it's just a novelty, etc. It is the perfect truck gun. I do a lot of back country photography and this fine little gun will tucked in or on my pack.

Went out shooting my ranch hand today and I fond it worked best shooting it sideways (no sights) shooting 6" at 25 yards not bad for first time point shooting!
My sisters kid loves the 44mag so I never go to shoot moor then 15 rounds haahaa the rotten kid blasted over 150 rounds
