The rear sights run out of adjustment and it still shoots high? Is this a problem with all of them?
Ya, pretty much. I have not read of one person who has hit on target at 50 yds.

Ranch Hand shooting too high.

Question:
I understand you have a fix for my Rossi Ranch Hand .45LC shooting high. Can you help???
Answer:
Yep, sure can.
Shooting too high is pretty common with the Rossi Ranch Hand. The other Rossi carbines seem to have a similar problem.
I have replacements for the stock Rossi Ranch Hand sights like the Flat Top rear sight or the Low Semi-buckhorn rear sight - Round barrel. These rear sights are lower than the stock Rossi and any of my ROUND BARREL FRONT SIGHTS are higher for the front. These should get you in the ballpark.
Or, you can go with my Adjustable Bolt-Mounted Peep Sight Safety Replacement you can use the stock front with it.
You will need this Dovetail Slot Blank to go with it.
We'll soon learn what "in the ballpark" really means![]()
Those darn scary internet bears are at it again. Internet bears kill more people than zombies. Internet bears are way scarier than real bears, that's for sure.
Jason,
When it's not seriously bearactive where I live, I am now totally cool about leaving-behind the BFG that I usually take (actually, drag-around) everywhere ... and arming-up with bearspray and that cool little rifle![]()
Hmmm ... it was a variation of a good joke that I'd heard years ago.
It needs to be told face-to-face among regular folks ... with a sincere and deadpan face ...
It doesn't work well here on the Internet ... with folks trying to act more ************* than what they really are![]()
My landlord carries a 45-70 Guide Gun, but my BFG is a Marine Magnum with a combination of two 00 buckshot and three Brenneke Black Magic slugs.
Piece a mind
And there are both kinds of bears here ... no s**t ... plus cougars and wolves ... and last November I piggy-backed a Nature Conservancy babe across a stream so we could photograph the tracks of a wolverine that I'd seen two hours earlier.
I was ready to be pissed-off at you for being a sarcastic/doubting whippersnapper, but you've earned a reprieve.![]()
yup just ordered my 300gr hard cast gas checked bullets from bullet barn today... I am sooooooooooooo giddy!![]()
Lol, ya sometimes it's hard to tell what someone means when they are on forums. Sorry. When I can't see what someone is saying, I tend to expect a sarcastic response, and sometimes I take a pre emptive strike haha.. It's a little silly.
My thinking is, depending on where I am, the ranch hand is a little easier to toss in a backpack or keep away from the visibilty of granolas. lol. if I'm not loaded down with a pack and stuff, then my old winchester model 1200 shotgun or a 45/70. Especially when I'm in Kitimat Terrace area.
Hey where did you get the Brenekke slugs? I can't find them anywhere and now I can't get challengers at cabelas. Good on you for not trusting fosters. I really believe a hard cast bullet is better than an old soft slug anyday.
I bought five small packs of them about six years ago at a Gander Mountain store in the mid-west, and brought them home when it was still legal. They're 600 grains and in the shape of an oil-drum ... with a tail fin, I think ... and they're swaged ... not cast.
I gave one five-pack to my landlord (who was sophisticated enough to appreciate the gesture) and have fired one of the remaining 20.
They're The Holy Grail of slugs and ... like Elaine's spermicidal sponges ... are totally rationed. I hope to never have to fire one.
i think you can still bring ammo across the border. After I move to Victoria, I will have to take a trip across and get some. Their reputation is incredible. I believe challenger are similar with the tail fin.
You cannot bring ammunition across the border! No. No more.
It ended years ago. Canada has no problem ... the the U.S.A. is a whole new world. None. Nada. And their enforcement dudes (and they have plenty) regularly check Canadian cars for anything firearm-related before them cars even get close to the 49th parallel.
Sorry man, but you seem to have been living in a bubble. Welcome to 2012, and The New Order.
