UPDATE: S.I.R. Russian SKS shipment possibly delayed until June

june? say it aint so .

im still sticking to early april unless also confirmed by frontier .

I'm just the messenger, but I'll take her at her word.

They are given their expected dates of arrival by the distributor (Bell) and have no more power to change it than we do. Who knows how much red tape those SKS's have to pass through before they get to the stores that are selling them.

I personally don't care if it takes a little longer, but I imagine some people are getting tired of waiting for this shipment (no matter who they're ordering from.)

Since S.I.R. has only recently added these SKS's to their website, I really don't blame them at all. They are as powerless as we are in this matter, and so are the other companies that will be selling them.

They placed orders for those rifles and then advertised in advance with just a general estimate of their arrival date. They want to sell them as quickly as possible and we want to get our paws on them just as fast.

I'm more interested in getting some in really good condition than I am in getting them fast. We'll just have to chill out for awhile more.

Hopefully, we won't have to wait until June (or later.)

Cheers! :)

With all these delays, I think getting, a SKS into our mitts, will be sheer luck. But what the hay, I.m in no big rush.Maybe the freighter will get a gust of wind, on it's back, and we'll get one before the summer is out.I got a Norinco SKS, to tide me over, until the real thing, somehow reaches our shores.I feel sorry for the SKS'less folks. The wait must be irritating.

Yeah, I feel the same way. I already have three mint '65 Type 56's, so I don't feel a tremendous need to have one. I just hope the Russian ones are as nice (fingers crossed.) If they're refurbs though, they likely won't be.

However, they'll still be the original design and good for comparisons with my Chi-Coms.

I just ordered one. I was advised delivery in late May or early June. I'm 271 on the list. They have increased their order to 600.

I'm in no panic, I've got a Yugo and a couple dozen other toys to play with anyway.

I'm one of the "SKS-less", I'd love to have it tomorrow but I'm generally quite patient. 600 on order?, I might just have to get a second one! lol

600? then the shipment is alot bigger than frontier lead me to believe, maybe a 1000?

the more the merrier .:dancingbanana:

Wouldn't that just make a bunch of liberals pee down their legs if we could get thousands of proud SKS owners to march en mass in every major Canadian city (with bayonets extended and perfectly synchronized.)

I think I'll go practice my Russian goosestep...

Well, seeing as how Liberals have always been enamoured with things Russian, this might get them excited.

Yeah, I never thought of that.

They might become so enamoured thinking their "liberators" had finally arrived to enforce their ideology that they might rush the marchers, shower them with kisses, and throw their panties at them. :(

God only knows what the reaction would be with the female Liberals...

With the, systematic breakdown, of the old Soviet regime I think there will be lots of ,'Russian war toys', comming our way.The Soviets are greate accumilaters, and suprised collecters, with all the warehouses full, of obselete rifles and pistols. After WW2, the Soviet nation was so run down ,that they saw a use, for just about anything.Lucky for us, that we get, some of the loot.

I mentioned to them in an e-mail that there are people who are unsure of the country of origin as long as they were calling it a Russian Type 56. Most of us know it as a Type 45 SKS if it was manufactured in the Soviet Union.

They responded that the distributor listed it as a Russian Type 56, so that is what they printed on their ad. They had their firearm guy look into it to be sure and it looks like they ditched the incorrect description.

Oddly enough, they aren't ready to list them as a Type 45 because he claims there were two types of Russian SKS's, namely a Type 45 and a Type 50.

I've never heard of a Type 50 before, so I wonder if that is a designation given to the factory refurbs that started being done in 1950, or if it signified arms production for the Korean War?

It seems that some countries that adopted the SKS, incorporate the year production started, or that a significant design change took place in the name (ie. Yugoslavian Type 59, or Type 59/66.)

Has anyone ever heard of a Russian Type 50 SKS before?

nope, cant say i have heard of type 50 ... a minor point , the russian SKS is known as SKS45 , it does not use the word "type", 45 was year it was adopted but started production in 1949 .
