Updated, all matching Enfield No 4 MK1 T sniper rifle with pics

well, it will be coming available as I certainly don't have the coin to offer the owner what is fair.
to think..... if I was a lesser man, the deal I coulda had for 500 bucks or so........ sigh.....
the owner has asked me to sell it for him so we'll see where she ends up

Hmmmmm, maybe I don't need that new truck that bad hahaha.

Man that's tempting, you should talk him into instalment plan payments and bring that baby home.

I was playing with it later and I think the follower was just stuck when I first handled it. I was so excited LOL I bypassed the mag pretty fast to get to the good part.... holding the rifle LOL

You will never regret selling it for a fair price.
You would have always had that $500 sale on your conscious.
Good call.

Looks like a really nice matching numbers rifle, as to the engraving on the middle of the scope bracket could it be a social insurance or drivers license number number?

You are the first one to notice that unfortunate mark.
My friend's dad, like mine, thought it was wise to mark his posessions with his D/L#
These marks on an otherwise outstanding specimen will no doubt detract from it's value in a sale.
I've sent pics of everything to some top shelf enfield guys for their thoughts.
The numbers are ngraved neatly , just ahead of the buttplate on the buttsock, running parallel to the buttplate.
And lightly electro pencilled on trigger guard, scope bracket and magazine.
Maybe it will devalue it enough that I could twist my wife's arm into not moving me out to the barn if I buy it LOL
As that was the threat when I told her I had to have It LOL

Ah, I didn't see the d/l markings. Too bad that...

Should move it to the affordable range though eh if you want it?

To a collector- that is a significant degradation in the desirability of the rifle. (and thus fair price)

good karma and then some!

Very interesting. I am touched ,but not surprised by your kind heart. Glad you didn't trade the quad away!;)

That knocks $2k+ off the value of the rifle ..... Too bad, but still a No 4T.

That is gorgeous beyond belief, I'm impressed by your integrity. Not many men who would have not done the deal.

sigh........ I know......
I'm still trying to do the deal, but at a fair price on both sides of the fence hehehe
I've been told by some (without mentioning the electropencilling) that the rifle should list around 7000. OBO based on recent sales of similar examples.
I'm not listing anything at this point, 1) selling for a friend site policy and 2) I want to know what a fair price would be based on the full disclosure of the markings added by my friends dad.
if it knocks the price down to something I can pull off without disrupting the happy medium that my life is when the wife is happy and the bills are paid, and I can afford my endless pursuit of things with antlers and fins......... then I would like to make this rifle mine :D
we'll see, your comments and appraisals are welcome
and no, I have no intention of seeing this thread or potential sale of the rifle go the way of the recent drilling thread LOL

well, after spending much thought on this one, in the end I don't have the cash for a ATRS modern hunter 'and' this no4 T LOL
that and she would probably deserve a better home with a service rifle shooter or similar.
so I'll be taking possession and possibly listing in the ee here or elsewhere.
it's certainly not going to an auction house hehehe
I'm just glad it was me that he showed it too and we're both grateful to the folks here who gave responses ;)
thanx guys.

**update 26/09/14
the owner of the rifle, after being told a suggested selling price and with offers of 4 to 5K on the table, decided to look into having the electropencilling removed....... so I have removed myself from being involved in the sale. he's going to deal with on his own cuz now he's fixed on getting maximum for it. my work is done and at least he has an idea of it's value before messing with it further.
try and help people and you don't always feel like a rock star in the end LOL
oh well, hope she finds a good home where she will be looked after
