Urgent- Gunsmithing Q RE: scope base screw SNAP -Abolt

I had an A-Bolt in 270WSM. Beat the living crap out of me at the first trip to the range. Lightweight short action rifle with light plastic stock fitted with a hockey puck butt pad and chambered in a Short Mag? Terrible idea. Not bad shooting off hand, but big muzzle blast. Put a recoil pad on and it was tolerable on the bench. Didn't like how it grouped and was displeased with terminal effects of the cartridge. Before I get hate for knocking the 270 WSM, I am sure it works great with the right bullet, but my experience with Federal factory loads was pencil hole wounds, no expansion, very little blood trail. I notice an awful lot of WSM chambered rifles for sale in the EE...

Yeah mate I Agree!! I had a 300 for a while, developed a Flinch! had a kikeez pad which helped and used 150grain rounds.... too much for me, so I guess its a bit of a blessing as the 270wsm would do the same amount of recoiling . Good point!!

Do you remember to A-bolt II?
Mine had a solid piece of rubber that clobbered me every time I pulled the trigger.
I put a decelerator pad on it and it was Golden after that.
I regret selling that gun....
I'm sure when the time is right the broken screw solution will be resolved, until then keep Kimber(ly) warm.

Try this before the gunsmith. I did and it worked (the broken screw extractor).

Pour some nail polish remover into that area and if you can let it pool. Hopefully if your lucky it will seep down a bit into threads. The NP remover will eat the blue loctite. Then take a drill bit about half the size of the screw and drill into the screw. The heat from the drilling will (if it blue loctite like you said) should produce some heat to assist breaking down the loctite. Once you start getting resistance in your drilling reverse your drill hopefully it will grab the screw and twist it out.

If not go and get a broken screw extractor bit from crappy tire.

Yep that ABolt II was a mule with a short temper and an iron shod hoof.
