Kind soul that I am...
I'd let my cooey64 go for 300$'s.... It was upgraded (probably in the 60's) with a metal mag-well and, accepts current (modern) metal mags...
LOL!!!!
To be fair, I have "learned" to love my 64 (now, one of 2...) but, it is what it is...
$'s are the biggest difference...I bought mine (no, not yesterday) for 60$'s...is a 10/22 really 5x better? Maybe! For the semi .22 fan, you can spend more on aftermarket parts for some of them (10/22 comes to mind) if that appeals to you. I also have a Marlin (can-tire 200$'s in the day, model 70 so, it uses clips) that although it cost more than 3x my orig cooey64, is FANTASTIC. It'll eat any ammo you choose to cycle, accurate (huge blade up front so, I actually shoot better with the cooey) and so far (20 years...) flawless!
Internet wasn't an option when I bought the first few rifles but, now, you can read 'til your eyes bleed...
...for the record I am not anti-10/22 (they are fabulous...) I'm sad I have to have one to gain "street-cred"...
