The info I have is that the Winchester I was considering was probably built in the early 90s; reading some posts suggests that Winchester had to put back some of the goodness it took out in 1964- is that a fair statement?
Yes it is a fair statement. The really bad stamped parts models started in 1964, and ended some time in 1971.The info I have is that the Winchester I was considering was probably built in the early 90s; reading some posts suggests that Winchester had to put back some of the goodness it took out in 1964- is that a fair statement?
If you're talking about $400, I would find a pre-64 94 in .30/30, you should be able to pick up a real corker for 400 skins and you have a higher quality gun and better resale value.
I agree with your thoughts- I'd like something pre-64 so that it should at least retain its value.
I haven't seen much around here (Toronto area) that fits the bill, though, and even the EE's currently a little sparse. Still, not like I have to panic.
